Ahead of the movie hitting theaters on Friday (Nov. 17), Mariah Carey debuts the official music video for “The Star.”
The title track off Sony Picture Animation’s new holiday film is a soaring, inspirational ballad that follows the movie’s theme of the nativity story.
“Thunder and rain surround you but his love’s just a breath away,” sings Carey in front of a starry night scene. “If you follow the heart, follow the light, follow that star.”
In a previous video that acted as a trailer for the film, Mariah beamed about how the song relates to the movie. “I think that the song brings the entire movie to life,” she said. “That’s a pretty special thing.”
In addition to “The Star” the singer has released another brand new original holiday song with “Lil Snowman,” off the soundtrack to her own animated movie Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You, which was released on DVD and digital streaming this week.
