New Music: Alicia Keys – In Common

Alicia In Common

Ohhhh, Welcome Back Alicia!!

Time apart can be a very good thing, and in Alicia Keys case, this holds true. As promised, the R&B superstar has returned with her brand new single, “In Common.”

Over a stomping, tribal drum patterned track by Illangelo (The Weeknd Drake), the singer/songwriter fights her feelings over a conflicting love affair.

“We got way too much in common, if I’m being honest with you / We got way too much in common / Since I’m being honest with you / Who wants to love somebody like me, you want to love somebody like me / If you can love somebody like me, you must be messed up too,” she sings.

“We all have our issues, our challenges,” Alicia said in a statement. “We are all kind of messed up and that’s all right. In fact, that’s what helps us understand each other. To me, that is what’s so beautiful.”

Alicia will perform the brand new song for the first time live on ‘SNL’ this coming Saturday (May 7). “In Common” is the first official single off her forthcoming sixth studio album, due out later this summer on RCA Records.

LOL This is very different for her. This could easily be a Justin Bieber or Selena Gomez song. Funny how nobody is staying true to themselves, everyone is jumping on this modern-sound train..

I miss the old Alicia sound. Her new stuff of late has been missing something

I bet … International money, is way deeper than national money …. so, you see the diversity of R&B artists into House/Dance/EDM styled tracks … has a much broader reach … she probably couldn’t afford this album if she just relied on US musical tastes and “buyers” …. Nice song… Welcome Back!

The commonwealth will eat this shit up. I like this, Music is forever evolving and so is artistry. Being ‘Labelled’ is something that artist try to break away from. It’ll be interesting to see how well this sound is perceived down the track
