There has always been an underlining connection between The Weeknd‘s style and the King of R&B, R. Kelly.
Many Kellz fans were instant supporters of Abel with his breakout mixtape House of Balloons. Now an international superstar in his own right, the Canadian crooner has gifted fans with a steamy cover of Kelly’s classic hit “Down Low.”
Debuted on Saturday’s episode of OVOSOUND Radio, The Weeknd stays true to the original off 1995’s R. Kelly as he seductively sings about a secret relationship.
“Secret lovers is what you wanna be / While making love to him girl you’re silently calling on me,” he sings.
Earlier this week, The Weeknd kicked off Phase 2 of his “Starboy: Legend of the Fall Tour” with special guests Gucci Mane and NAV. The 33-date run will hit North America, New Zealand, and Australia this fall.
