After unveiling a pair of Beyoncé covers and a revealing preview, ELLE has finally released its full interview with Queen Bey for the magazine’s May 2016 issue.
In the rare article, the superstar opens up about a variety of topics, including “Formation” and those who felt her music video had an anti-law enforcement premise.
“I’m an artist and I think the most powerful art is usually misunderstood,” she explained. “But anyone who perceives my message as anti-police is completely mistaken. I have so much admiration and respect for officers and the families of officers who sacrifice themselves to keep us safe. But let’s be clear: I am against police brutality and injustice. Those are two separate things.”
Bey went on to say that she is proud of the way she celebrated Black History Month in the February release. “If celebrating my roots and culture during Black History Month made anyone uncomfortable, those feelings were there long before a video and long before me,” she added. “I’m proud of what we created and I’m proud to be a part of a conversation that is pushing things forward in a positive way.”
The singer, who will launch her “Formation World Tour” this month, also speaks on her new activewear line Ivy Park, feminism, and lessons her parents taught her in the magazine, which hits newsstands April 19.

I commend Beyonce for taking a stand against police brutality and injustice -translate – Racism white supremacy and all Black ppl should do the same. I hope she’s well prepared for the white backlash.
