Following the early news that Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and Toni Braxton took home the Grammy for ‘Best R&B Album’ for their duet LP Love, Marriage & Divorce, the legendary singer/songwriter hit the red carpet for the typical media walk through on Sunday.

Stopping by to speak with Billboard before going in to the award ceremony, Babyface talked about winning another Grammy Award after all his years in the business, but more interestingly he confirmed the release of his new solo album!

Previously reported about last summer (also by Billboard), the project will be his first solo album in seven years and first of original material since 2005’s Grown & Sexy. Although originally slated for an early 2015 release, Babyface now stated that the album will be coming out September 2015.

In regards to the album he previously stated: “[It’s] a feel-good record. It’s musical. It’s not necessarily a completely slow album. It’s got a groove to it — not dance music, just a groove to it. I’ve been out on tour not just with Toni but with Frankie Beverly and Charlie Wilson and Kem and those guys, who [release] not just commercial records but things that just feel good. And that’s inspired me to do a very musical record, which I’ve always tried to do, anyway.”
