K. Michelle Anybody Wanna Buy a Heart

#11. K. Michelle – ‘Anybody Wanna Buy a Heart’

With an exceptional year under her belt, there’s no way that anyone can deny K. Michelle’s reign in R&B. Aside from having a successful solo reality show on VH1, the talented songstress added having her second number one album to her growing list of accomplishments. K’s sophomore album Anybody Wanna Buy A Heart has been dominating the charts and hearts of many R&B lovers across the globe.

While we all know K. Michelle is most known for being very transparent and outspoken, she reiterated that fact with this album. Proving that she isn’t afraid to be vulnerable in everything that she does, the singer made it known that her life is an open book for her fans to read. Revealing that majority of the album was about her former beau, actor Idris Elba, Anybody Wanna Buy A Heart took K to a different place – vocally and creatively – that fans were not expecting.

Getting everyone shifting in their seats with her alternative single “Love ‘Em All,” the real attention was drawn to the album when she released the heartfelt single, “Maybe I Should Call.” Following up with the old school feel of “Going Under,” K. Michelle was already working her way onto our list before the album even dropped. The confirmation though, was when the full album displayed an attention-grabbing collaboration of sounds and lyrics produced by the singer and her noteworthy team.

While the aforementioned singles were all great in their own right, it was “Cry” that put the final nail in the coffin. Set against a heartbreaking beat and filled with lyrics that will make you do just as the song suggests, K’s ability to make you feel every emotion she pours out through her lyrics is her strongest gift. – K.P.

I liked Mariah’s album as well. I’m still shocked that not to many people got to hear it. Dave Hollister and Johnny Gill and Dave Hollister’s albums were also pretty decent.

D’Angelo definitely had my favorite album last year.

Chris Brown & August Alsina had some good albums too but that’s about it. I hope Badu and Soulchild come with some heat this year.
