The burgeoning superstar, who released her anticipated sophomore album ‘The Electric Lady‘ this week, spoke about music having the power of ‘waking us up’ and inspiring the so-called ‘walking dead.’ She shared some details about her time being a maid while paying for music school, working with Prince and reawakening black soul through the music of legends like Bo Diddley.

In addition to speaking about her hopes and goals for the new album, she also addressed her style, being in control of her outfits and not being interested in showing skin to further her message.
