Video: Charles Bradley – “Strictly Reserved For You”

Charles-Bradley---Strictly-For-You

Fresh off a round of soul stirring, crowd-pleasing performances at SXSW, soul dynamo Charles Bradley is set to release his second album Victim of Love on Tuesday, April 2 via Daptone imprint Dunham Records. The follow up to his 2011 debut No Time For Dreaming sees “the unstoppable, untoppable victim of love (Village Voice)” moving past the ‘heartache and pain’ and closer to the promise of hope. Victim is also stylistically more restless, edging closer into the kind of psychedelic soul The Temptations explored in the early ’70s.

The first video from the forthcoming album, for single “Strictly Reserved For You,” premiered this week. Shot earlier this year in Melbourne, Australia and New York City, the video shows Bradley’s lighter side, and undeniable charisma and charm.

While most artists appreciate their audiences, few love their fans as much and as sincerely as the 64-year old “Screaming Eagle of Soul.” Bradley has received wide praise for his honest, heartfelt live performances and can often be seen literally embracing his audience. You can catch the soulful crooner on his US spring tour, kicking off April 12 in Annapolis, MD and including a headline show at NYC’s famed Apollo Theater.
