Janelle Monae Named Newest Face of Covergirl

Janelle Monae is joining the ranks of Rihanna, Brandy, Queen Latifah and Tyra Banks, being announced as the newest face of COVERGIRL. A coveted feat which holds personal significance for the 26-year-old.


The Kansas native took to Twitter to celebrate the news. “I’m strong. I’m beautiful. I AM A COVERGIRL!!!!” tweeted Monáe.

“Ever since Janelle made her electrifying arrival on the music scene, she has captured our imaginations, stirred our souls, and made us all move our feet,” said Esi Eggleston Bracey, VP and General Manager, COVERGIRL Cosmetics. “Janelle is a true force of energy and a beautiful spirit who truly delights in her creative journey, not just the destination. We’re elated and can’t wait to show the world another dimension of her artistic ‘superpowers’ as a member of our COVERGIRL family.”

Her first 10-page print campaign will appear in the September issue of Vogue. Monae is working on her sophomore album Electric Lady, which is coming soon.
