Brandy weighed in on pop culture topics ranging from Lady Gaga’s suicide song “Princess Die” and Ke$ha’s lip tattoo during her live appearance on HLN’s “Showbiz Tonight.” The R&B singer, who guest stars on a new episode of Lifetime’s “Drop Dead Diva,” was also asked why she enlisted Chris Brown for her single “Put It Down.”

“I just feel like everybody goes through things in their own life and it’s not my place to judge or anybody’s place to judge,” said Brandy. “I just know that Chris is a fantastic artist and he’s always been supportive of me as an artist and I just wanted to work with him because he’s great at what he does.”

When hearing her late mentor Whitney Houston’s final song “Celebrate” for the first time, her emotions got the best of her. “That’s my first time hearing the snippet of the new song,” said Brandy as tears rolled down her face. “It’s tough. This woman has meant everything to me. To know that she’s no longer with us in the physical is very tough and it’s been tough for me and I’m pretty sure everyone who’s been touched by her music.”

But she pressed on, apologizing for her outburst and answering the questions like a pro.
