The-Dream is moving from the studio to a Vice Presidential office at Island Records! “I wanna Thank everyone at Island Records/DefJam for their faith in me and making me Executive Vice President of Island Records,” The-Dream wrote on Twitter earlier today. The-Dream will now oversee Island Records’ development of talent, a role that was once held by Christopher Hicks. Hicks, who followed late executive Shakir Stewart, had been appointed Executive Vice President in January. Thinking ahead, The Dream wrote “I look forward to the challenge of rebuilding music for not only Island Rec. But for Universal Records as a whole. Today I’m humbled and blessed” on Twitter. The-Dream’s announcement today follows his public desire to call it quits, in terms of releasing albums, after the soon-to-be issued “Love King”.

Talking about his retirement earlier this summer, The-Dream said “I am engaged and ‘Love King’ IS going to be my last album…. It is going to be last bcuz everybody is trying to “KILL THE DREAM!'”
