Usher & Jennifer Hudson Honor Whitney Houston at Tribute

Whitney Houston was honored on Thursday night as some of music & Hollywood’s brightest stars came out to pay tribute to the late legend at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. R&B artists Usher and Jennifer Hudson lent their talents with performances at the ‘We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston,’ which will air on CBS later this fall. In addition stars such as Britney Spears and Halle Barry, along with Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina and her fiance Nick Gordon were in attendance.

New Music: Whitney Houston feat. R. Kelly – I Look To You

Only seven months after Whitney Houston’s passing, and a new greatest hits compilation is coming, due out for Holiday times, the set will hit stores November 13. As the first promotion for the LP, a refix of Whitney’s popular 2009 single “I Look To You” featuring R. Kelly has been released to iTunes. Kelly who penned the song, and sang it a Whitney’s funeral service, claims his love to the vocal queen saying, “We love you, Whitney. Rest in peace,” as the song fades out.

The upcoming compilation album will feature remastered versions of her classics, the R. Kelly duet, and one unreleased song entitled “Never Give Up,” produced by Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox.

Jordin Sparks Talks About “Sparkle” & Whitney Houston

Jordin Sparks calls the experience of her acting debut in the new film Sparkle, the most amazing blessing since winning ‘American Idol.’ In a candid interview with Billboard the young star speaks about her role and working with Whitney Houston.

“It’s heavy, but at the same time its a celebration of her, because it was her baby, and she was so proud of it” explained Sparks. “Just to be able to watch her, she had this wisdom behind her eyes and this sense of knowing,” she continued describing the late legend. “The fact that she was fighting demons, and the fact that she had fought demons, and the fact that she was this amazing, supernova diva, and THE voice, yet she would walk in the room and you would feel like she was your best friend.”

“Sparkle,” a remake of the 1976 musical drama of the same name, hits theaters tomorrow, August 17.


Producer Jerry Wonda Talks about Working with Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston would have turned 49 this past August 9, and producer/musician Jerry “Wonda” Duplessis shares the born day with the late legend. ‘Sparkle’ The Motion Picture Soundtrack Tracklisting

Whitney Houston’s last movie Sparkle, a remake of the 1976 film, will hit theaters August 17, but before you can visually witness the musical you can hear the music. Due July 31, the 11-song soundtrack features the final recordings from Houston, as well as music from her co-stars Jordin Sparks, Cee Lo Green, and Goapele. Houston and Sparks duet on the feel-good first single “Celebrate,” produced by R. Kelly, and Houston takes it back to her church roots on the gospel classic “His Eye Is on the Sparrow.” See the tracklisting below.

Whitney Houston Tribute at BET Awards 2012

It was an extremely touching and emotional moment at Sunday night’s show as BET paid tribute to the late Whitney Houston. Mariah Carey opened speaking about her friend and fellow diva, as she fought back tears. Monica, brought down the house with the gospel hymn “I Love the Lord.” Her collaborator Brandy made the audience groove with “I’m Your Baby Tonight” and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.” Whitney’s brother Gary Houston was up next, singing “Where You Are” before making way for her mother Cissy.

There was not a dry eye in the house as the 78-year-old performed “Bridge over Troubled Water.” “This is for you, Nip,” said Mrs. Houston.

Whitney’s Waiting to Exhale castmates Angela Bassett, Loretta Devine, and Lela Rochon recalled memories of working with the singer-actress and Chaka Khan had everyone on their feet as she closed with “I’m Every Woman.”

Video: Whitney Houston & Jordin Sparks – Celebrate

Celebration was the theme, and Jordin Sparks does just that in the brand new video for “Celebrate,” the R. Kelly produced single off the soundtrack to Sparkle, and the final song recorded by Whitney Houston. Jordin threw a house party and celebrated the life of her mentor with her co-stars including Derek Luke, Omari Hardwick, Goapele, Carmen Ejogo, and Tika Sumpter.

“What we wanted to do was make sure that this was a fun, happy video and just kind of dedicating it to her,” the “American Idol” champ told “Entertainment Tonight.” “What better song to leave for people to hear than a song that is so upbeat and just so happy and so encouraging?”

The 22-year-old singer plays Whitney’s daughter in the remake of the 1976 Motown-era film, which opens in theaters on August 10.
