Tank, Ginuwine & Tyrese stopped by Hot 97 Morning Show on Thursday morning. The three R&B vets who are working on their TGT project spoke to Ebro, Cipha and K Foxx about their upcoming collaboration, being single heartthrob artists, and staying true to R&B music.
Tank revealed that they just decided on the title of the album, which he coined as “3 Kings.” It is expected to arrive in stores in July 23 via Atlantic Records. They have already been hitting the road for some shows, but have a full 30+ city tour in the works.
Earlier this year, Tank was a special guest on DJ Carisma’s “Cookie Jar,” and we finally have the official footage for you. During their chat the R&B veteran spoke at length about his career and music; in this clip watch Tank discuss the current state of R&B, and who he feels is doing their thing to keep the genre hot and progressing. This was also the moment that Tank first premiered TGT’s hot new single “Sex Never Felt Better.”

During a recent interview with Radio.com, Tyrese spoke about the reunion of TGT and their upcoming album. In a clip from the chat, the multi-talented star took a moment to send Tank a text message to personally thank him again for going back in and re-recording a portion of their hot new single “Sex Never Felt Better.”
“I’m gonna send Tank a Message right now…,” he said before taking a break to text. “We kinda went back and forth about what Tank’s verse should be on the song. These are conversations none of us have had before. Me, Genuwine or Tank have never been in a group.” He went on to explain that his tweaks to the song, which he didn’t specifically outline, were not intended to make him shine.
“If you get all the screams and enegery for what happens, I don’t care,” Tyrese said. “I just want to do what’s best for the song. Tank was very excited about a version of the song he did. He was determined not to change it. He ended up going in to re-sing certain parts. I just had a moment to send him a text message to say thank you. No ego, no nothing. I know he went in there ’cause I damn near begged him to do it and he did it.”
Almost halfway through March, and it’s already been a good year for R&B. The skeptics are still floating around, but things are certainly looking up when artists like Emeli Sandé are getting played on Z100, and Miguel is taking home Grammys. Last year, we saw a ton of releases on both the album and mixtape side, and while there hasn’t been much on that front just yet, there are certainly some big releases on the way from the likes of Beyoncé, Maxwell, Chris Brown and many more.
With a good amount of new tracks already floating around our playlists and ipods, we decided to take a more serious look at the music and give you an official list of our Top 10 Best R&B Songs of The Year, so far…
All these tracks are either already heating up the charts, or need to be on your radar. Take a look and listen at the list below:
Last night, Tank paid a visit to the homies DJ Carisma and Abby De La Rosa’s mixshow “The Cookie Jar,” and he brought his own cookie. The R&B heartthrob premiered the first official TGT (Tyrese, Ginuwine, Tank) single, “Sex Never Felt Better.”
The R&B vets are looking to make a major impact with their much-anticipated debut this year, and most likely will be contributing to a population growth if they have more joints like this one! (I think Russia might need to book them following Boyz II Men, haha).
In addition Tank has been prepping his new mixtape entitled ‘High Piano Dreams,’ which he plans to release on February 25.
Take a listen to the world premiere of “Sex Ain’t Never Felt Better” below… UPDATE: Here is the official, untagged version, Enjoy!!
It went down on Monday night, as DJ Carisma and Abby De La Rosa welcomed R&B vet Tank to “The Cookie Jar.” The singer-songwriter joined in the full-hour mixshow of the latest and hottest in R&B, as he spoke about his experience at the Super Bowl, his early upbringing in Milwaukee and career start singing background for Ginuwine and Aaliyah.
Tank gave big props to Drake, claiming the Young Money rapper has quietly helped bring R&B sensibilities back, discussed the new generation of R&B singers, and how he is kind of beginning to become a godfather in a sense. In a surprise move the “Compliments’ singer even brought his own cookie, hot out the oven, to the show, premiering the brand new TGT (Tyrese, Ginuwine, Tank) song, “Sex Never Felt Better.” In addition, Tank discussed his upcoming mixtape ‘High Piano Dreams.’
“I wanted to lead with my strength, me sitting down at the piano singing to ladies,” explained Tank. “We put a lot of different colors around the piano, we got a ‘trap piano,’ the bedtime piano, the emotional piano. It’s the pianos take on what this music should sound like.” The free-project is expected to be released on February 25!
