New Music: Solange feat. Kendrick Lamar – Looks Good With Trouble (Remix)

Solange Knowles receives a gift from rap star Kendrick Lamar, who blesses the singer/songwriter with a verse to “Looks Good With Trouble,” a cut off her TRUE EP. K-Dot adds his smooth flow to the vibey Dev Hynes production for the official remix.

In related news, Solange has made an announcement that she has launched her own label, Saint Records.

“Super stoked to announce I’ve started my own label,SAINT RECORDS, where I’ll be releasing my music & other projects distributed through SONY!” tweeted the 26-year-old singer.

Her next album is due on the label. “It is through SAINT RECORDS that I will be releasing my full length album, and also future music projects that I’m excited about sharing!”

The new deal gives her complete creative freedom. “Through Saint Records I will have 100% creative/artistic control & continue to passionately pursue my footing in this new musical movement,” explained Solange, who is managed by Roc Nation.

Solange has teamed up with Opening Ceremony for a limited edition of her ‘TRUE’ EP. The album features the same seven songs off her critically-acclaimed project including the single “Losing You,” all wrapped in a colorful new package designed by New York artist Mickalene Thomas.

Solange braved the chilly NYC weather on Wednesday night to provide the entertainment at the Museum of Modern Arts Armory Party, in celebration of the opening of the annual Armory Show, which showcases the most important artworks of the 20th and 21st centuries. The singer is becoming just as well known for her fashion, as she is her music, and she catered to the chic crowd performing cuts from her acclaimed ‘TRUE’ EP.

“Thank you MOMA, and everyone who came and rocked! That was so, so, fun. You guys were beautiful,” tweeted Solo.

Solange Performs at The ‘House of Blues’ Los Angeles

Solange Knowles brought Grammy weekend in on a high note with a sold-out show at the House of Blues in L.A. on Thursday night. The 26-year-old singer and her band including production partner Devonté “Dev” Hynes performed new material off her acclaimed ‘TRUE’ EP, and some past classics. As much of the industry’s elite, including her sister Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Pharrell, Timbaland and more, watched from the balcony, Solo had everyone on their feet grooving to her set.

She debuted the extended version of “Looks Good With Trouble,” an interlude on ‘True,’ and closed with “Sandcastle Disco” off 2008’s ‘Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams.’ Jhené Aiko also lent her smooth sounds to the night as the opening act.
