PressPlay: 25 R&B Videos To Kick Off Summer

R&B Videos Summer

Summer is here and in case you were wondering, I’m just as excited as a kid on Christmas morning. Though each season holds its own weight in my book, there’s just something about summer that can make anyone feel their best and want to shine every chance they can. While everyone has their different reasons for feeling so good when summer creeps around, we here at ThisIsRnB will always give some of the credit to our playlist of summer R&B songs for that overwhelming emotion that the season brings out of us.

Although today’s R&B artists can still deliver a solid feel good sound for summer (i.e. DJ Khaled’s Rihanna and Bryson Tiller-assisted “Wild Thoughts“), there’s no denying that the majority of the top summer vibes came from the ’90s and early 2000s. Likewise, those same artists were all about making videos to match that same vibe and as a result, turned each summer into the biggest party that we would experience all year-long. So as an ode to those tracks and inspiration to make the next few months the best of your year, we decided to set you up with a dope list of R&B videos that are sure to set your summer off proper.

Excited about letting the top back, pulling out the shawt shawts, and getting tipsy on the rooftop? Jump into these 25 nostalgic summer videos to hype you up for your first day out (no Gucci) this season.

Sisqo & Dru Hill Suing Record Label Over Poor Album Promo

unnamed

If you forgot Dru Hill and Sisqo put out comeback albums, there’s a good reason – because the R&B stars say their record label botched the whole deal and cost them millions in the process.

TMZ has reported that according to a new lawsuit, Dru Hill and its thong loving frontman signed separate deals with Kedar Entertainment Group back in 2009. Dru Hill would release 2 albums, and Sisqo would also drop 2 solo albums.

Sure enough Dru Hill’s InDRUpendence Day came out in 2010 and Sisqo’s Last Dragon came out earlier this year. Neither burned up the charts, and the artists say that’s because KEG got chintzy.

They say the label promised to spend $300k on marketing, but failed to buck up. In the suit, Dru Hill also says they got shorted on royalties – never seeing a dime.

Sisqo and his band mates are both suing to get out of their contracts and for a million dollars each!

Video: Sisqo – ‘LIPS’

Sisqo-LIPS-Video

If you didn’t already know, Dru Hill frontman SisQo is making a comeback, as he prepares to release his third solo album Last Dragon, early next year. After trying to hit the clubs with the Waka Flocka-assisted “A-List,” the R&B veteran returned with the stellar ballad, “LIPS,” last month.  Wasting little time, SisQo has now premiered the official music video for the piano-laden single.

Opening the black-and-white video playing the keys, the singer lays down his provocation plans before jumping up and into a choreographed dance sequence. He is later joined by a sexy, lingerie-clad vixen who embraces his body-grinding dance romp.

“Conjure up all of the things that you want, I will serve your body until it give me what I crave baby,” seduces Sisqo.

Last Dragon is the third and final installment of his Dragon album series, it is slated to hit stores on January 13.
