Video: RL feat. Taylor J – “Boo’ed Up”

RL, formerly of R&B group NEXT, is finally spreading his wings on the journey to his new solo album. The singer/songwriter premieres the official music video to his new single “Boo’ed Up” featuring Taylor J. The R&B veteran lets his lady know that all they need is each other and they can stay home together, no need to live that party life when you got the good thing at home.

“I just wanted to be able to do another anthem,” RL recently told our friends at YouKnowIGotSoul. “I wanted to make sure that if I came back, it would be on the level that I left and I’m known to have. I had to ask myself if I was only going to sing three records right now, I know I had to do a “Too Close” and I had to do a “Wifey” but I had to put something in the middle. I wanted to make sure it’s a record that would be on that level. It’s relative I think, people can relate to it so it could be timeless.”

RL is currently putting the finishing touches on his sophomore album ‘5:15,’ which is due out later this year. The record is a reflection of his birth as a new artist of sorts, the title is based on the time of day he was actually born. Peep RL’s new video below:

Next front man, RL is back with a new single! After an almost 10-year hiatus and random song leaks, he hits the scene with an official single featuring up and coming rapper, Taylor J, titled, “Boo’d Up”. The new track, which gives us the RL that we all know and love, it is a great comeback from the man responsible for providing you with some of the dopest baby making music of the past.

“Boo’d Up” can be found on RL’s upcoming album, 5:15, which is slated to be released later this year. Will you be coping it?

RL of Next, Talks New Album, NEXT Return & Being Authentic

Many R&B fans should be aware that RL of the group NEXT has been working on his own solo album for some time now, if you didn’t, well now you do. In fact, over the past 2 years he was very dedicated to the project. However, due to a ton of leaks via overseas fans the singer-songwriter scrapped the whole album, with plans to record more new music.

Event Recap: I’m Not A Minor Presents: Sammie & Mishon, Hosted by RL

This past Thursday, with the support of NBC’s “The Voice” and BMI, the “I’m Not A Minor” showcase reached its third installation featuring R&B singers Sammie and Mishon, and hosted by singer-songwriter R.L., of the group Next. With a surprise performance from LaTocha Scott, formerly of Xscape.

The vocal celebration, held at the W Hotel in Atlanta, brought out music enthusiasts and tastemakers together to indulge in an organic, vocally stimulating experience. INAM alum Jade Novah, Sheena Marie and Tanika Shanea took the stage once more to open up with their triumphant sounds setting the tone for a great night.

In a time when the essence of true R&B is dwindling, the “I’m Not A Minor” showcase is actively producing a bi-monthly platform where emerging and some more celebrated artists work hand and hand to keep their genre of music alive one month at a time.

Music: RL feat. Yung Joc – In The Club Like

Here is a brand new record and possibly first single from singer/songwriter RL. It is titled, “In The Club Like,” and features Yung Joc. RL previously of Next has been rumored to working on solo album for a while now. If you are unfamiliar, while the other members of Next have not remained in the spotlight, RL has stayed real busy songwriting, and he might now be ready to step out on his own as an artist. However there is also a rumor of the whole group returning as well. Check this out, what do you think?
