Mishon Works with Jermaine Dupri & Bryan Michael Cox On Debut Album

Dynasty Records/Columbia recording artist Mishon has much to celebrate. The ABC Family “Lincoln Heights” alum received the green light via Columbia to start working on his debut album – and he’s running full speed ahead.

To hone in on R&B greatness, he has enlisted Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox to assist in constructing the project.

“This album will reflect what the essence of R&B is to me,” says Mishon. “Since I fell in love with music, I’ve always looked up to Usher. I’ve followed his career and admired his work ethic, music and dance moves. This album will reflect Usher’s 8701with a 2013 feel. I’m excited.”

He continued: “Working with Jermaine and Bryan is a dream come true. They’ve single handedly constructed R&B for my generation and I can’t wait for my turn to make an imprint.”

Mishon premieres the first visual off his Valentine’s Day mixtape release ‘The Gift.’ The video for the lead single “Overtyme,” is dedicated to all the hard working woman and female leaders of the world.

‘Overtyme’ is the New Anthem for every Girl, Young Lady or Woman that has made a Sacrifice for the greater good of the ones they LOVE. Mishon wrote and produced this song to personally show his appreciation for what may otherwise go unnoticed. “Ladies, If you ever thought about giving up, DON’T, your strength has an everlasting affect on us,” says Mishon.

New Music: Mishon – “The Gift” (Mixtape)

Mishon has released his new mixtape, “The Gift,” in celebration of Valentine’s Day. The Dynasty/Columbia Records artist hopes to evoke not only intimacy but also the love we should share as people through his new body of work.

“This project was something that I wanted to give to my fans, friends and family,” said Mishon. “Over the past eight months, I’ve made major strides in my life and music by signing with Columbia Records. I wanted to get with my team and express it all through music. And through that process, I’m on the verge of finding myself.”

In celebration of the new release, The ABC Family “Lincoln Heights” alum is inviting all of his fans and industry friends to his mixtape listening kickback hosted by Clark Atlanta University’s radio station WSTU and sponsored by Vitamin Water. The experience will kick off on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 located at 675 Metropolitan Parkway #5060 Atlanta, GA 30301 from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m.

“I know, from the experiences I’ve shared, the ears and hearts I borrowed to create this album, that the songs are going to impact people’s lives in a special way and whoever attends the listening session will experience it first hand.”

Columbia Recording artist Mishon has just delivered the first single, “Overtyme,” off of his upcoming Valentine’s Day release ‘The Gift.’

Just in time for the love holiday, the melodic ballad celebrates women for their independence and incomparable work ethic. And explains how their dedication is sometimes overlooked by their beauty. Inspired by the women in the singers life, Mishon says, “Overtyme was inspired by watching my mom, aunts, my lawyer and female friends make major moves,” he said. “Just wanted them to know someone appreciates them past their outer appearance.”

The 15-track love filled mixtape features sultry ballads and more mature sounds compared to his earlier releases, as he readies his debut album due later this year, executive produced by Sean Garrett.

Mishon’s Dorm Room Music video is a classic view of college life in the dorms. Girls, Parties, The Homies, Girls, RA’s, security, oh and did I mention GIRLS! Follow Mishon on this journey from high school graduation to life’s trials and tribulations all celebrated no matter the outcome with carefree college parties!

The young homie August Alsina makes some cameos in the vid as well.

Mishon Tributes Michael Jackson with “The Lady In My Life” (Video)

Event Recap: I’m Not A Minor Presents: Sammie & Mishon, Hosted by RL

This past Thursday, with the support of NBC’s “The Voice” and BMI, the “I’m Not A Minor” showcase reached its third installation featuring R&B singers Sammie and Mishon, and hosted by singer-songwriter R.L., of the group Next. With a surprise performance from LaTocha Scott, formerly of Xscape.

The vocal celebration, held at the W Hotel in Atlanta, brought out music enthusiasts and tastemakers together to indulge in an organic, vocally stimulating experience. INAM alum Jade Novah, Sheena Marie and Tanika Shanea took the stage once more to open up with their triumphant sounds setting the tone for a great night.

In a time when the essence of true R&B is dwindling, the “I’m Not A Minor” showcase is actively producing a bi-monthly platform where emerging and some more celebrated artists work hand and hand to keep their genre of music alive one month at a time.

I’m Not A Minor Presents Sammie, Mishon & August Alsina Live In Atlanta

Next week is looking to be a great week for some live R&B. Coinciding with our show with Teedra Moses in NYC on Thursday, May 31, those of you in the Atlanta area need to check out some great rising talent at the “I’m Not A Minor” event, featuring live performances from Sammie, Mishon and August Alsina, plus opening performances from up and coming singers Jade Novah, Sheena Marie and Tanika Shanea. The show, hosted by singer-songwriter RL of Next, goes down at the W Hotel in downtown Atlanta, Thursday May 31 at 8pm … And the best part about it, it’s a free show!
