Summer is here and in case you were wondering, I’m just as excited as a kid on Christmas morning. Though each season holds its own weight in my book, there’s just something about summer that can make anyone feel their best and want to shine every chance they can. While everyone has their different reasons for feeling so good when summer creeps around, we here at ThisIsRnB will always give some of the credit to our playlist of summer R&B songs for that overwhelming emotion that the season brings out of us.

Although today’s R&B artists can still deliver a solid feel good sound for summer (i.e. DJ Khaled’s Rihanna and Bryson Tiller-assisted “Wild Thoughts“), there’s no denying that the majority of the top summer vibes came from the ’90s and early 2000s. Likewise, those same artists were all about making videos to match that same vibe and as a result, turned each summer into the biggest party that we would experience all year-long. So as an ode to those tracks and inspiration to make the next few months the best of your year, we decided to set you up with a dope list of R&B videos that are sure to set your summer off proper.

Watch Mariah Carey & YG Perform “I Don’t” on ‘Jimmy Kimmel’

For her first performance since the New Year’s Eve fiasco, Mariah Carey hit the stage on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Wednesday night to perform her new single “I Don’t” along with rapper YG.

Wearing a dapper white tuxedo, YG kicked off their set in front of a white video screen before walking over to Carey and the band. In a gorgeous low-cut, floor length red dress, Mariah gave a stellar performance of the breakup anthem for the first time live. Later, she had some fun back and forth with YG’s return to the stage.

The Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox produced single is the first of many that Mimi has planned to release this year. “I’m gonna be doing singles, because it’s more fun for me to just write singles and not focus totally on doing one whole album,” she told fans during a Facebook Live session. “It seems like a lot more fun to just sit down, write a single, collaborate.”

Video: Mariah Carey feat. YG – I Don’t

As promised, Mariah Carey has debuted the music video for her brand new single “I Don’t” featuring rapper YG.

Inspired by her failed engagement to billionaire James Packer, the visuals open with Mariah in a wedding dress as she runs out of a mansion and into a white Rolls-Royce.

Once there, she strips down to racy white lingerie and drapes herself over the rain-soaked car while YG rides shotgun. The pop superstar also flaunts her assets in an S&M-inspired look while sitting in the back of a black drop-top Phantom.

Produced by Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox, the breakup anthem includes an interpolation of Donell Jones’ classic single “Where I Wanna Be” on the chorus. “Cause when you love someone / You just don’t treat them bad / You messed up all we had / Now, you think I’m comin’ back / But I don’t,” sings Mariah. “I tried to make it work no matter how much it hurt / You had to make it all about you / Tell me why you gonna do me like you do / I went from me and you, to walking right out on you.”

In the final scene, Mariah throws her wedding dress into a bonfire, officially putting an end to the relationship.

New Music: Mariah Carey feat. YG – I Don’t

Fresh off the season finale of her E! docu-series “Mariah’s World,” Mariah Carey has released her brand new single “I Don’t” featuring YG.

The ’90s-inspired jam, produced by Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox, is a breakup anthem in the wake of the singer’s nixed engagement to billionaire James Packer.

An impassioned Carey sings: “We stole a moment in time / Gave you everything that you needed / I was even down to repeat it.” Later she borrows from Donell Jones’ classic single “Where I Wanna Be” on the chorus. “Cause when you love someone, you just don’t treat them bad,” sings Mariah.

Meanwhile, YG adds some West Coast flavor. “I know you love me / You just don’t trust me / You don’t understand me / But you love it when I call you Miss Carey,” he raps.

The music video for “I Don’t” has already been shot. Filmed at an opulent mansion with lavish chandeliers and a grand staircase, the teaser shows a shirtless YG in a black blazer and shades.

He later joins Mimi in a white Rolls-Royce Phantom. Clad in white lingerie and also a black S&M-inspired look, Mariah drapes herself over the hood of the rain-soaked car, with YG riding shotgun.
