Mali Music Releases “Gonna Be Alright” Video + “Loved By You” feat. Jazmine Sullivan

Ahead of the release of his new album, The Transition of Mali, due June 2, Mali Music shows his lighthearted and upbeat side with the release of his video for “Gonna Be Alright.”

In the video, Mali evokes nostalgia, parodying iconic television shows like Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Married With Children, and Martin. The visual flips the inspirational tone of the song into a depiction of pure joy mixed with a dash of humor.

Mali comments on the video saying, “The video is fun! It reminds me of simpler and better times. Those days when the shows on TV helped us escape and believe. I want it to be something that makes the viewers smile.”

In addition to the “Gonna Be Alright” video, Mali has shared one of the most-anticipated tracks off his new album, a collaboration with Jazmine Sullivan titled, “Loved By You.”

Trading verses on the romantic ballad, Mali sings: “Now when I say ‘take your heart’ I’m not talking about robbery / I’m talking lots of talks and texts, the cost to be, the one we ought to see / Though talks and texts can get the point from A to B.”

Jazmine joins him over the soulful track with background adlibs and singing: “Yes, it’s so good to be loved by you.”

New Music: Mali Music – Gonna Be Alright

It’s a feel good Friday, and New Music Friday for Mali Music‘s eager fans.

Today, the R&B/Gospel singer-songwriter has come back with a brand new single, titled “Gonna Be Alright,” and it’s a smooth tune about pushing through adversity with faith for the better.

Opening with a doo-wop type harmony, the drums quickly kick in with a head bobbing beat over subtle keys. Mali assures listeners whatever they are going through a positive outcome is on the horizon.

“Ooh I got a song to sing / It’s a song about hope for you / It’s a song about faith / I see all that you are going through / And it’s gonna be alright,” he softly sings.

Speaking about the song, Mali explained: “Everyone knows that there are two things that are certain in the world today; death and corruption. In the years that have passed, everyone has thrived in the state of crisis. So, in hopes for the future, I want to let everyone know with ‘Gonna Be Alright’ that grace abounds steel and everything will indeed be alright.”

Mali has been working on his sophomore major label album. The follow-up to 2014’s Mali Is…, is due out later this year via ByStorm Ent./RCA Records.

Listen: ThisisRnB Presents: Acoustic Sessions Vol. 2 (Guitar Sessions)

Guitar-Sessions

Throughout the years that we’ve been running ThisisRnB, our original acoustic sessions series has been one of the most rewarding and enriching things that we’ve done. From the earliest developments of it and curating our process over the years, we couldn’t be more honored and proud of the content that has been created through these sessions.

While the videos live on our YouTube channel, we’ve always felt like it would be nice to do something with the audio recordings as well.

So, after revisiting the sessions, we’ve gathered and created playlists broken down into two simple styles–piano sessions and guitar sessions. We are currently releasing them online for free streaming as our gift to you!

Thank you all for watching and supporting us over the years. Thank you to all the artists who allowed us to help capture these amazing performances, along with all the publicists, managers, and record label associates who helped facilitate them. Thank you to all the engineers and studios as well, we couldn’t have done this without you.

Exclusive: Mali Music Shares Favorite Lyric from Upcoming Album, Talks R&B, and ESSENCE Fest 2016

Mali-Music-Essence

While out in New Orleans covering the 2016 ESSENCE Festival, ThisisRnB’s own Ni’Kesia Pannell caught up with the amazingly talented singer/songwriter Mali Music for a brief interview, live from the press room in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Opening their conversation by reflecting on our incredible acoustic session with Mali from 2014, the RCA Records artist spoke about his love for giving songs a fresh take acoustically. He went on to talk about his anticipated second album on RCA, and even shared with us his favorite lyric from the album.

We had one pressing question for Mali though. If he had to choose a president and vice president for the country, only within the R&B genre, who would it be and why? Well, let’s just say it wasn’t easy for him. At the end, Ni’Kesia gifted Mali with a TSA-friendly backpack from our friends at ecbc.

Check out the candid conversation below.
