Watch: June’s Diary Release Cover Video of Jodeci’s “Stay”

Emerging R&B quintet, June’s Diary is on a mission to show fans and new listeners exactly what real R&B groups are all about.

For their first release since 2016’s “L.A.N.C.E,” Kelly Rowland’s protégées put their spin on Jodeci’s classic song “Stay” off the latter’s debut album Forever My Lady.

In the Derek Blanks-directed video, the stars of BET’s “Chasing Destiny” look stunning as they flip the ’90s jam. The ladies—Kristal, Ashly, Brienna, Gabby, and Shyann—are currently opening for R. Kelly on “The After Party Tour” and will perform at the ESSENCE Festival on July 2 in New Orleans.

In between shows, they are in the studio recording their debut album and are planning a listening party where fans can help them choose songs for the album. Keep an eye on their social pages for more details.

22 R&B Songs That Turned Valentine’s Day Out In 1997

Valentine’s Day is here so that means nothing but fine wines and good vibes for all the lovers in the world. Though recent years delivered a set of R&B songs that fit the mood of today, nothing quite beats the sound of ’90s R&B and the feelings that came along with those songs. Without any debate, ’90s R&B was the essence of love and we couldn’t picture a successful Valentine’s Day without a ‘90s R&B playlist serving as the soundtrack.

With that in mind, we decided that it would be fitting to take you back to that place of love and happiness and show you what Valentine’s Day would’ve been like had you been in celebration mode 20 years ago. Though most of the R&B hits from ’97 didn’t erupt on the scene until after February of that year, the tracks released from 1995 leading up to 1997’s date of love made for an unforgettable playlist that was sure to make anyone D.T.D. (Drop them draws, dawg!).

Don’t believe us? Check out these 22 R&B songs that turned Valentine’s Day out in 1997 below.

Jodeci Talk Early Days, Career, and New Album on ‘The Breakfast Club’

The boys are back!! Well minus Devante (again), but Jodeci has finally returned, after 20 years, with their brand new album The Past, The Present, The Future.  While visiting NYC for their album release K-Ci, JoJo, and Mr. Dalvin stopped by ‘The Breakfast Club’ for a long overdue interview.

Reminiscing on their career and giving a little history for the younger listeners, the fellas talked about coming from the south and a church background to being singed to Uptown Records and having a young Puffy Combs handle their project. From staying in the Bronx and learning the New York lifestyle to designing their street look, to Devante’s early attempt to join Prince’s band, and K-Ci’s father telling him that if he leaves home he better not come back if he doesn’t make it, it was a great interview for fans.

They spoke about being young playboys, K-Ci spoke about his relationship with Mary J. Blige, they addressed past addictions and the performance where it looked like JoJo passed out on stage. Coming back to the present they spoke about their brand new album, reasons for their reunion and working with LA Reid at Epic.
