Video: Daley feat. Jill Scott – Until The Pain Is Gone

Only one week after releasing his outstanding new single, “Until the Pain is Gone,” British vocalist Daley premieres the music video for the Jill Scott-featured duet.

Shot at the Spectrum Diner in stunning neon lighting, the visuals find Daley contemplating his relationship at the restaurant counter, while another couple deal with the emotions of their own situation.

Scott doesn’t appear in the video unfortunately, but singer/songwriter delivers a spellbinding performance in front of colorful bars of light, and in front of rain covered glass.

“Until the Pain is Gone” is the first single off Daley’s forthcoming sophomore album, The Spectrum, which is due out later this year.

The song hits close to home for Daley, “The song kind of came out of frustration I was feeling in a relationship,” he told Billboard. “The situation was going nowhere because we both weren’t really fully able to admit how we felt about each other and just be honest. And that situation didn’t really work out, but for the purposes of writing this song, I just kind of gave it a happy ending and idealized it a little bit.”

While writing the song, he felt Jill Scott would be the perfect collaborator on the record. “When I was in the studio writing the song, I just had a feeling, and I kept hearing Jill’s voice in the mix when I was writing. It was kind of strange, almost like it was asking for her energy.”

New Music: Daley feat. Jill Scott – Until The Pain Is Gone

Take a moment and escape into a world of soulful bliss!

More than a year after previewing the song for fans, Daley has finally released the studio version of his collaboration with Jill Scott, “Until The Pain Is Gone.”

The intoxicating duet is the first single from the UK crooner’s upcoming EP, which follows his acclaimed 2014 debut album, Days + Nights. Everything we love about Daley and Jill is experienced throughout this soul-stirring ballad that plays with our heartstrings in all the right ways.

“Try to see this through my eyes / ‘Cause you’re not the only one confused / In this world where love is prone to lose,” sings Daley. While Jilly from Philly responds to his requests to pursue real love, “Can you convince me? / Change my mind / We can leave all those demon days behind / Cause didn’t I mention, I have nothing but good intentions for you.”

The song hits close to home for Daley, “The song kind of came out of frustration I was feeling in a relationship,” he told Billboard. “The situation was going nowhere because we both weren’t really fully able to admit how we felt about each other and just be honest. Jill Scott Wedding

Congrats are in order for the amazing Jill Scott!

The 44-year-old Grammy-winning singer married her beau, Mike Dobson, on Saturday (June 25), as seen in photos and videos posted by the groom’s friend DJ Mars.

“So my man called me a year ago and said, ‘Mars I need you to DJ my wedding…don’t get booked on June 25th 2016!'” he wrote. “He came to my house and gave me the deposit early, but he didn’t say he was marrying Jill Scott!!!!! Damn homie!!!!!!!!!!”

Jill looked gorgeous and radiant in a white low-cut gown with long lace sleeves and a silver sparkling belt. She also sported white clips in her hair, which she wore up, and a long veil.

“This wedding made my summer!” Mars wrote. “I’ve known Mike for almost 20 years, but dude could have alluded to the fact that he was marrying Jill Scott(lol)! All he said was, u are working with her in Vegas. He’s a total class act, he won with the wedding! #djmarsapproved.”

ThisIsRnB Presents: The Top 20 R&B Albums of 2015

Top 20 R&B Albums of 2015

2015 was the best year in R&B since the ’90s … Go ahead, fight us on that…

Ok, maybe not exactly, but it was damn near close and we’ve been reveling in it all year long.  So, with 2016 upon us and the same question – Where did the year go? – we spent the last month of 2015 re-listening, debating, writing, enjoying, and celebrating all of the amazing albums that hit our desks from a very wide range of artists.

Great R&B ruled in it’s current arena, which is Urban AC radio and independent labels, but it also slowly began to slide back into the mainstream.  Veteran artists took strong stands for their beloved style, while young acts only born in the 90s just did what felt natural and real to them.  Truth and authenticity ruled as the overall theme, even when it came in the form of a 60s soul revivalist or dark R&B protagonist taking over pop radio.

With open arms we welcomed the return of powerhouse female vocalists Jazmine Sulllivan and Tamia, and saluted male R&B lotharios Tyrese, Ne-Yo and Raheem DeVaughn.  The legendary Janet Jackson surprised everyone and reminded us why she is Unbreakable.  Newcomer Bryson Tiller stole the underground king trophy, and Miguel reminded us to let our Wildhearts run free.

The only thing that might have made it better would have been if Maxwell got off the beach and finally gave us the oft-delayed follow-up to BLACKsummers’night.  Anyways, let’s toast to what’s to come in 2016, and flashback with us to 2015’s most notable albums with “The Top 20 R&B Albums of 2015” below!

Video: Jill Scott – Back Together

Jill-Scott-Back-Together

Jill Scott exemplifies the true definition of a woman. Fresh off of receiving the first ever Lady of Soul Award at this year’s Soul Train Awards, the singer-songwriter has released a poignant video for her latest single, “Back Together.”

The visuals feature the principal dancer of Broadway’s The Lion King, Donna Vaughn, accompanied by the Complexions Contemporary Ballet ensemble. It opens with Donna wandering along a busy New York City street, seemingly tortured by her thoughts. Just as she’s about to lapse into a mental breakdown, the scene cuts to her surrounded by the dancers.

As Donna and the dancers gracefully emulate strength and fearlessness, the images of hopelessness transition into hope. Inspired by Jill’s son, Jett, “Back Together” is an empowering anthem aptly shown in the video. Take a look below and watch as Jill puts it “Back Together.”
