Mishon Works with Jermaine Dupri & Bryan Michael Cox On Debut Album

Dynasty Records/Columbia recording artist Mishon has much to celebrate. The ABC Family “Lincoln Heights” alum received the green light via Columbia to start working on his debut album – and he’s running full speed ahead.

To hone in on R&B greatness, he has enlisted Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox to assist in constructing the project.

“This album will reflect what the essence of R&B is to me,” says Mishon. “Since I fell in love with music, I’ve always looked up to Usher. I’ve followed his career and admired his work ethic, music and dance moves. This album will reflect Usher’s 8701with a 2013 feel. I’m excited.”

He continued: “Working with Jermaine and Bryan is a dream come true. They’ve single handedly constructed R&B for my generation and I can’t wait for my turn to make an imprint.”

As her lambs and fans across the world await the first single off her upcoming album, Mariah Carey continues to work on the project, and she was back in the studio with Jermaine Dupri and Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. Two of Mimi’s most frequent collaborators, and two that many expect nothing but greatest from when they get in the lab.

Jermaine first shared the image with the simple tagline “A real R&B moment.”

Only time will tell when she will be ready to release the first single from her album, as she continues her time as a judge on the new season of ‘American Idol.’ But, these three together could be a serious problem, and it sounds like R&B was the focus…

Miguel Celebrates Grammy Win with Drake, Jermaine Dupri, Jeezy & More

Miguel continued celebrating his Grammy win on Friday night at Reign nightclub in Atlanta. The party, which was presented by Gidewon Group, went down in grand style, as the R&B sensation performed some of his favorite hits, including ‘R&B Song of the Year’ – “Adorn” and debut single “All I Want Is You.” Miguel was joined by fellow stars such as Young Jeezy, Jermaine Dupri, DJ Khaled and Drake, who wowed party goes by performing his new anthem “Started From The Bottom” and joined Miguel for “Sure Thing.”

Usher’s Return To The Studio with Jermaine Dupri and Bryan Michael Cox

Usher certainly surprised many when he made an unexpected appearance and performance at this years SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. Not only was it a surprise that he came out to perform, but the act which he chose to hit the stage with, indy rock band The Afghan Wigs, was even more intriguing. Keeping the surprises coming, immediately following the appearance, Usher returned home to Atlanta and headed to the studio with friend, mentor and longtime collaborator Jermaine Dupri. Many became excited when JD posted a photo on Instagram of himself wearing his big SoSoDef logo head, sitting next to Usher in the studio.

Jermaine has said he is not as focused on working with the big, established artists at the moment, but one act he will always be ready to get in the lab with certainly is, Usher. A many core fans of the R&B superstar have continued to voice their requests for him to return to the guidance and creative direction of Dupri, and frequent collaborators such as Bryan Michael Cox, it appears their hopes are being answered. The first picture was only the beginning, as this was not a fly-by-night session, but a return to continued production together. Jermaine Dupri has been the common thread in many of Usher’s hit songs and albums, but has been close to none-existent on his last 3 LP’s (0 on ‘Looking 4 Myself,’ 1 on ‘Raymond vs. Raymond’ and 2 for Dupri and 1 from Cox on ‘Here I Stand’).

Music history was made in Atlanta last night, as Jermaine Dupri pulled off an epic concert at the Fox Theatre to celebrate So So Def’s 20th Anniversary. The stage was like a “who’s who” in chart-topping acts, as everyone from Jay-Z, Mariah Carey, Usher, Ludacris, Young Jeezy, Nelly, Lil Jon, Monica, Kris Kross, Bow Wow, Anthony Hamilton, Da Brat, Jagged Edge, Xscape (Latocha and Tamika Scott), T-Pain, Lil Scrappy, Youngbloodz, Bonecrusher, Dem Franchize Boyz, J-Kwon, Dondria, and Pastor Troy took the sold-out crowd on a musical trip down memory lane. The Fox Theatre was alive with the sounds of classic songs like “Money Ain’t a Thang” (JD & Jay-Z), “Jump” (Kris Kross), “Yeah” (Usher, Ludacris, Lil Jon), “Who Can I Run To” (Xscape), “I Gotta Be” (Jagged Edge), “Welcome to Atlanta” (JD, Ludacris), “Give It 2 U” (Da Brat), “I Think They Like Me” (Dem Franchize Boyz), “Coming From Where I’m From” (Anthony Hamilton) and so many more!

“I’ve made more hits with this man than anyone else,” said Usher, acknowledging Dupri on stage. “Congratulations to my friend, JD!” said Mariah, as she wheeled out a cake at the end of the show.

Overwhelmed by the energy of the crowd and the support and well-wishes of his celebrity friends, Dupri was humbled: “Wow…this is crazy,” he said. “We did it! Thank you everyone – the fans, the artists..ain’t nobody f’in with my clique!”

Jagged Edge, Xscape & More Rehearse for So So Def Anniversary Concert

The big event goes down tonight in Atlanta at the Fox Theatre. JD has assembled his whole roster of So So Def artists, and has some big surprises in store. Photos: Jermaine Dupri Hosts Private Dinner for So So Def 20th Anniversary

Last night, Jermaine Dupri kicked off the So So Def 20th Anniversary Weekend by treating his So So Def roster to an intimate dinner at a top secret location in Atlanta. Artists such as Bow Wow, Chris Kelly (Kris Kross), Da Brat, Jagged Edge, LaTocha and Tamika Scott (Xscape), Dondria, Bonecrusher, Youngbloodz, Dem Franchize Boyz, and Fresco Kane along with veteran music exec Michael Mauldin (JD’s father) were in attendance, as JD and staff served the guests a lavish meal prepared by Chef Michael Hebb and custom “Afroman” cake by Jaxon Pastries. The gathering was a happy reunion, as many artists hadn’t seen each other in years – some had never even met! “In all these years, this is the first time that Bow Wow and Chris Kelly have ever met,” announced Dupri during the dinner. “Bow Wow is a product of Kris Kross, so the fact that we can bring everyone together like this means a lot.”

“This is my way of saying thank you for helping me build the So So Def empire,” continued Dupri. “This is a historical moment, so tonight I’m celebrating you. Sit back, relax…I’m gonna serve you. But enjoy it, because that will never happen again!”

The So So Def 20th Anniversary Concert goes down tomorrow Saturday, Feb. 23 at 7:30pm at the Fox Theatre Atlanta. See pics below…
