Listen: Eric Bellinger Releases Island Themed New EP, ‘Eric B. for President: Term 2’

Eric Bellinger is putting some breezy, summery vibes in our ears with the release of his brand new, anticipated project, Eric B. for President: Term 2.

Although it’s not politically themed, the R&B singer/songwriter combines balmy beats with lush harmonies, to create a sonic teleporter to a private island. Knitting together varied sounds from bossa nova, dancehall, reggae, and other beach-friendly genres, Term 2 is a breezier version of Eric’s sensual brand of R&B. Featuring appearances from Wale, Victoria Monet, Elhae, and Tayla Parx, Term 2 is the perfect soundtrack to a romantic beachside getaway.

“The vibe for Term 2 is island-y, fit for a tropical vacation,” explains Bellinger. “When Obama left office, he went jet-skiing on vacation. I’m taking that approach to give a sense of relaxation and chill and positive vibes in light of the new presidency. It’s a dark time, so I wanted to take the opposite approach and make something light and fun. Term 1 had the hip-hop approach with the reference to Eric B and Rakim, but for this one, I wanted to go back to my R&B roots.”

Listen to Term 2 below, and pick it up on iTunes now.

New Music: Eric Bellinger – Make You Mine

Today, Eric Bellinger is celebrating his son’s 2nd birthday, and the love he has for his wife, LaMyia.

Following the release of last week’s “Treat Yourself” featuring Wale, the R&B singer/songwriter debuts the dancehall inspired love song “Make You Mine,” off his forthcoming EP, Eric B. for President: Term 2, due out March 10.

Promising to make the bad gal of his dreams fall in love Eric seduces her singing, “Girl I want to kiss and caress, say yes / And I know that my lovin’ no one can contest / And I need a freak, if you a freak say yes / One wicked and bad, bad girl.”

“People are really into the Island/Caribbean vibes right now, so much that I started to feel like I would be crazy to just ignore that,” explained Bellinger about the song. “However I knew if I was gonna make one it still had to be me. So I got transparent… I opened up and wasn’t afraid to make it personal. For this song I took it back and shared the chase that I was on when getting my girl. My first date with my now wife LaMyia was insane. I went all out. I had been on her for over a decade so I knew I had to make that first impression count. We had a conversation about cereal one night before we went out and we shared our love for cereal… From types of cereal to flavors of milk to sizes of bowls and spoons. I obviously did my thing because now she’s mine and TODAY our son just turned two years old!”

New Music: Eric Bellinger feat. Wale – Treat Yourself

Sometimes you gotta treat yourself.

Eric Bellinger is coming back for his second term! The R&B singer/songwriter has announced that his next EP, Eric B. for President: Term 2, will be released on March 10, and along with the news he has debuted the first song off the project, “Treat Yourself” featuring Wale.

“Wale is someone I’ve been working super closely with lately,” says Eric. “When he heard the song he immediately hopped on. ‘Treat Yourself’ is easily one of my favorite joints on the project. I love all of the songs but this one is special to me because it’s the first time I’m actually being kind of braggadocious on a record. I thought it was time to let people know what time it is – ‘I deserve that whip right there / I deserve to pull up to that big house in my name’.”

‘SOULQUARIUS’ Brings R&B Greats, Past & Present, to West Coast Fans!

When the flyer for the inaugural SOULQUARIUS Festival in Santa Ana, California dropped in late 2016, R&B lovers everywhere went crazy over the line-up of scheduled performers.  From throwback artists like Jon B. and DMX to current R&B tastemakers such as Ro James, Jhené Aiko, and BJ The Chicago Kid, there was no denying that this event was guaranteed to be a lituation.

Fear of getting rained out and continuous flooding from California’s big storm may have had most on edge but, that didn’t stop ticket holders from coming out in droves to get a taste of what their favorite performers have to offer. Of course, there were a few mishaps along the way (like any huge festival has during their opening year), but SOULQUARIUS — aside from its massive lineup — has plenty of reasons why it should be the R&B festival that you don’t want to miss from here on out.

Delivering a jammed packed mash-up of lovable R&B artists and a few of rap’s most influential, SOULQUARIUS made sure to leave festival enthusiasts with a need to get their coins up for next year.

Listen: Eric Bellinger Releases ‘EBFP: An Acoustic Experience’ EP

Eric Bellinger goes acoustic!

The R&B singer/songwriter has been riding the wave of his Hip Hop leaning 2016 EP, Eric B. For President: Term 1, but being the creative that he is, and R&B artist first, the Los Angeles native has re-recorded the project as a full acoustic experience. As promised, Eric has released the new version titled, EBFP: An Acoustic Experience, for free streaming today!

Speaking about his inspiration behind making the acoustic project, Eric explained to ThisisRnB: “I’m an R&B artist first but I know ‘Eric B For President: Term 1’ was a very hip-hop driven project. I felt as if I needed to do some more edgy urban songs just so people knew I was capable of that type of sound as well, but I still wanted to release the project in a way that my core fan base would be able to vibe with. I’m a huge fan of the acoustic guitar. There were a lot of insane beats on the project: crazy snares, baselines, ambient sounds that may have left some of my vocals and intricate harmonies in each of the songs hidden. I knew that if I stripped down the production for ‘EBFP, An Acoustic Experience,’ it would make people focus in on the vocals and lyrics. The idea for making an acoustic project came out after I saw the reaction from old and new fans. I was excited about the new fans I gained but still wanted to please my day ones as well.”

With the title being a play on politics and claiming his position of power without the music world, Eric also addressed the state of our country, as we transition from President Barack Obama to President-elect Donald Trump. “I know our country is in a crazy place right now with the recent election of Donald Trump,” says Eric. “I’m doing my best to give an alternative outlook on things through my music. Trying to stay as positive as possible, distracting the culture from the mockery of events that have been taking place … no different than what our government does when they draw attention to things in the media to distract us.”
