Watch: Eric Bellinger Empowers with New Anthem “Be The Change”

Eric-Bellinger-Be-The-Change

Eric Bellinger is literally using his voice to take a stand.

The R&B singer was inspired by the recent racially motivated events that transpired over the weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia and he has released a new performance video titled “Be The Change.”

Taking to the streets of Los Angeles with an acoustic guitar player, Bellinger busked through a performance of the empowering anthem about fighting hate with love and standing up for what you believe is the right and moral way to live.

“Before you give up on life, just give love a try / Let’s come together / Keep your head up to the sky / And fight ’til the day you die / Let’s come together,” he sings. “If you believe just follow me / I’ll be the change that the world’s been missing.”

In between shots of his street performance, the visual contains vintage footage from the days of Jim Crow and the Civil Rights Movement, along with footage from the violent protests in Charlottesville.

“Felt I needed to share something given everything that has been going on in Charlottesville,” wrote Eric on Instagram before adding in one of Nelson Mandela’s iconic quotes.

Listen: Eric Bellinger Releases New ‘CANNABLISS’ EP

A few days early and hot off his European club tour, Eric Bellinger sparks up some musical medicinal with his 4/20 inspired project, CANNABLISS.

Packed with last week’s single hitter, “Blazin Wit The Bros” featuring The Game, the 5-track project includes a guest appearance from fellow R&B singer/songwriter Candice Boyd on “Flight.”  The two lovers hope to light up a physical connection over the sticky track with a filtered out sample of Lauryn Hill’s vocal from Nas’ “If I Ruled The World.” But, instead of an indica body high, Eric chooses a strain of sativa to take them on a higher cerebral trip.

From there, Eric heats up the R&B vapors on the short-but-sweet slow burner, “Not High Enough.”  On the aptly titled closing track, “Ganja,” he sings about his admiration for marijuana, claiming he blazed one with Obama, but never does the Madonna–a perfectly rhymed reference to “white girl,” the common slang term for cocaine.

Describing the concept behind CANNABLISS, Eric explains: “Marijuana has a really dark cloud over it for some reason, but I happen to love everything about it. With the worldwide holiday 4/20 approaching, I wanted to do something in an attempt to help erase the negative stigma attached to it. My idea was to create a project about weed that everyone would love, especially the stoners! A project so good that people would enjoy it even if they didn’t smoke. A project so vibey, so smooth, so mesmerizing, so relaxing, so hypnotizing that the energy embedded in the sonics of music would subliminally relieve stress & cause the listener to feel high, effortlessly coercing them into a state of ‘CANNABLISS.’”

Get a feel for his vibe and float into ‘Cannabliss‘ with Eric Bellinger below.

Premiere: Eric Bellinger Cozies Up with Christina Milian in “Make You Mine” Video

60 years ago his grandfather wrote a hit song about looking for his ‘pretty one,’ and today Eric Bellinger continues to follow in those footsteps. However courtship has changed, the premise remains, and the R&B hitmaker has scored his prize in the “Make You Mine” video, co-starring Christina Milian.

The second release off his new project, Eric B. for President: Term 2, gets a lavish visual treatment, as Bellinger travels to a scenic ocean overlook in Malibu, and sails through the Pacific in a yacht. Over the pulsating dancehall inspired track, the singer/songwriter attempts to woo the beautiful Milian with much success, as he sings: “Girl, I wanna kiss and caress, say yes / And I know that my lovin’ no one contest / And I need a freak, if you a freak, say yes / One wicked and bad, bad girl.”

While Eric’s love interest in the summery visuals is just a friend in real life, he originally wrote the song with inspiration from wooing his actual wife, La’Myia. “For this song I took it back and shared the chase that I was on when getting my girl,” he explained. “My first date with my now wife La’Myia was insane. I went all out. I had been on her for over a decade so I knew I had to make that first impression count.”

Eric B. for President: Term 2 is available on all streaming services now. Check out the premiere of the sexy “Make You Mine” video below.

Listen: Eric Bellinger Releases Island Themed New EP, ‘Eric B. for President: Term 2’

Eric Bellinger is putting some breezy, summery vibes in our ears with the release of his brand new, anticipated project, Eric B. for President: Term 2.

Although it’s not politically themed, the R&B singer/songwriter combines balmy beats with lush harmonies, to create a sonic teleporter to a private island. Knitting together varied sounds from bossa nova, dancehall, reggae, and other beach-friendly genres, Term 2 is a breezier version of Eric’s sensual brand of R&B. Featuring appearances from Wale, Victoria Monet, Elhae, and Tayla Parx, Term 2 is the perfect soundtrack to a romantic beachside getaway.

“The vibe for Term 2 is island-y, fit for a tropical vacation,” explains Bellinger. “When Obama left office, he went jet-skiing on vacation. I’m taking that approach to give a sense of relaxation and chill and positive vibes in light of the new presidency. It’s a dark time, so I wanted to take the opposite approach and make something light and fun. Term 1 had the hip-hop approach with the reference to Eric B and Rakim, but for this one, I wanted to go back to my R&B roots.”

Listen to Term 2 below, and pick it up on iTunes now.
