Eric Bellinger Announces ‘EBFP: An Acoustic Experience’ Album, Premieres “Sometimes” Video

Eric Bellinger goes acoustic!

The R&B singer/songwriter has been riding the wave of his September 2016 EP, Eric B. For President: Term 1, but being the creative that he is, and R&B artist first, the Los Angeles native has re-recorded the album as a full acoustic experience. Announcing the project today, EBFP: An Acoustic Experience, is set to be released on January 20.

Speaking about his inspiration behind making the acoustic album, Eric explained to ThisisRnB: “I’m an R&B artist first but I know ‘Eric B For President: Term 1’ was a very hip-hop driven project. I felt as if I needed to do some more edgy urban songs just so people knew I was capable of that type of sound as well, but I still wanted to release the project in a way that my core fan base would be able to vibe with. I’m a huge fan of the acoustic guitar. There were a lot of insane beats on the project: crazy snares, baselines, ambient sounds that may have left some of my vocals and intricate harmonies in each of the songs hidden. I knew that if I stripped down the production for ‘EBFP, An Acoustic Experience,’ it would make people focus in on the vocals and lyrics. The idea for making an acoustic project came out after I saw the reaction from old and new fans. I was excited about the new fans I gained but still wanted to please my day ones as well.”

With the title being a play on politics and claiming his position of power without the music world, Eric also addressed the state of our country, as we transition from President Barack Obama to President-elect Donald Trump. “I know our country is in a crazy place right now with the recent election of Donald Trump,” says Eric. “I’m doing my best to give an alternative outlook on things through my music. Trying to stay as positive as possible, distracting the culture from the mockery of events that have been taking place … no different than what our government does when they draw attention to things in the media to distract us.”

Watch: Eric Bellinger Performs “Black Beatles” Cover on Hollywood Hills

Following his acoustic cover of “Fake Love,” Eric Bellinger keeps the holiday gifts coming for fans with a new performance video.

Opting for a different location than most, the R&B singer/songwriter brings a mic stand and stool to the top of the Hollywood Hills that overlook Los Angeles, to deliver his cover of Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles.”

Ad-libbing some of his own lines at the end, Eric sings: “Who else got the voice and the swag like me? / Who else can live in they bag like me? / Who work a pen and a pad like me? / I’ll wait…”

“With lyrics like Swae’s ‘cream seats in the Regal / Rockin John Lennon lenses’ line, I was super hype to take this song to the next level,” says Bellinger. “I look at doing covers like that old MTV show ‘Pimp My Ride’ where they would lace someone’s car – this is like ‘Pimp My Song.’ I’m adding all kinds of stuff and messing around with the tempo, the beat, and melodies etc. I really enjoy giving people a different version of a song that they already love.”

Last week, Eric Bellinger released his new holiday song, “Sex for Christmas,” and he is currently working on Eric B. for President: Term 2, due out in early 2017.

New Music: Eric Bellinger – Sex for Christmas

Eric Bellinger continues his tradition of dropping a musical gift for the holiday season. On Tuesday (Dec. 13), the R&B singer/songwriter released to iTunes and streaming services, the NSFW jam “Sex for Christmas.”

This marks Eric’s first new original song since his Rakim-inspired Eric B. For President: Term 1 project, released in September.

When your lady has everything, the only other option for a R&B lothario is to give her endless lovin’, and that’s just what Bellinger has planned. “I’m gonna give you love / I’m gonna give you kisses / I’m gonna spread your legs and do everything that you’ve been wishing,” sings Eric.

Previously, the Los Angeles native shared his two-for-one music video “G.O.A.T./In My Prime,” which threaded a sustained narrative about Eric’s scandalous run for political office. Flexing his pipes over acoustic guitar, Eric also transformed Drake’s “Fake Love” into a sensual ballad. Fans can stay tuned for Bellinger’s forthcoming Christmas project, and then Eric B. For President: Term 2, at the top of 2017.

Video: Eric Bellinger – G.O.A.T. / In My Prime

The political season continues for Eric Bellinger, who has debuted the short film style double video for “G.O.A.T.” and “In My Prime,” both tracks are off his recently released EP, Eric B. for President.

The R&B singer/songwriter scores a victory amid scandal in the visuals, which co-star actor Columbus Short and singer/actress Keri Hilson.

“I wanted something along the lines of my project ‘Eric B. for President: Term 1,’ so when the director, Sat, contacted me about doing music videos themed around the TV show House of Cards, the timing was perfect,” Bellinger tells Billboard. “He had an idea about doing a political drama that connected the two music videos — people don’t really do that anymore so I thought it was a great idea. And since everyone was sucked into this crazy election, it only made sense.”

For the ARoc-assisted “G.O.A.T.,” Eric plays a presidential candidate who sabotages his opponent’s chances by having a seductive saboteur create a sex tape scandal that allows Bellinger to secure the win. He then hosts his own celebratory bash for “In My Prime” featuring Phil Ade.

The club life can get a lot of us in trouble at times, especially when you’re off that brown liquor. That is the case here, as Maquambe and EB break down the reality of getting a little too tipsy and doing things our sober selves would never.

“Don’t mean to be rude in this club / That drink all up in my cup / Might kiss, might touch, might say things like I’m in love / I don’t mean it,” sings Bellinger.

Ain’t that the truth. #JustBeingHonest
