RICO LOVE CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY WITH USHER, MARY J. BLIGE, MELANIE FIONA, DIDDY & MORE

Rico Love turned the lights all the way on at his star-studded 29th birthday bash hosted by Usher, Mary J. Blige, and Diddy during Art Basel week in Miami on Friday night (Dec. 2). The Grammy-winning songwriter/producer, who’s written hits for Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Diddy-Dirty Money, partied with his friends including Timbaland, Cee Lo Green, Yelawolf, Maino, Irv Gotti, and his Division1 signees Cherlise and Teairra Mari, who celebrated her 24th birthday. Guests dined on Italian fare at the invite-only dinner at Vic & Angelo’s before heading to the after-party at Club Play.

Rico was presented with the Grammy for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for “There Goes My Baby” by his close friend and mentor Usher, while “4 AM” singer Melanie Fiona serenaded him with “Happy Birthday” before he blew out the candles on his five-tier music-themed cake.

“I had such an amazing time! I had Diddy, Usher, and Mary hosting, my closest friends celebrating with me—this was so epic,” said Rico, who was named SESAC’s Songwriter of the Year. “2011 was such an incredible year for me and I look forward to another year of #1 hits.”

2011 SOUL TRAIN AWARDS PERFORMANCES (VIDEO)

Peace, love, and soul ruled the night at the 2011 Soul Train Awards. The 40th anniversary show, which was taped earlier this month at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre and aired on Sunday night, featured the soulful stylings of Cee Lo Green, Robin Thicke, Lloyd, and more, along with tributes to the late Heavy D and Legend Award recipients Earth, Wind & Fire and Gladys Knight.

Common dueted with Marsha Ambrosius on his single “Blue Sky,” a barefoot Cee Lo teamed up with Melanie Fiona for a white-hot duet of “Fool for You,” Mindless Behavior had the crowd on its feet with “Girls Talkin’ ‘Bout” and “Mrs. Right,” Robin Thicke smoothed it out with “Love After War,” and Lloyd spiced things up with “Dedication to My Ex (Miss That).” Plus, Doug E. Fresh, Goodie Mobb, Naughty by Nature, Whodini, Big Daddy Kane, and Kurtis Blow paid homage to the late Heavy D with a medley of his hits.

An absent Chris Brown went home with Album of the Year for F.A.M.E., Miguel picked up Best New Artist, and Kelly Rowland scored Song of the Year for “Motivation.” Other winners included Nicki Minaj (Best Hip-Hop Song), Jill Scott (Best Female R&B/Soul Artist), Cee Lo (Best Male R&B/Soul Artist), Marsha Ambrosius (Record of the Year), and Beyoncé (Best Dance Performance).

Music: Cee-Lo – Robot Sex

The Lady Killer leaks out a record that I’m assuming didn’t make it on the actual Lady Killer album. Cee-Lo explains that “she doesn’t want that robot sex; She wants human touch”…… And I agree! Minus the thriller laughing at the end of the track I really enjoy it, funky baselines and groovy vocals, nice!
