New Music: Bruno Mars – Versace On The Floor

After keeping his party going with “24K Magic,” Bruno Mars slows things down with the retro-tinged ballad “Versace On The Floor.”

The man knows the key to our heart, and his lady’s, as he sings over ’80s influenced keys and synths about making passionate love.

“There’s no reason to hide what we’re feeling inside right now / So baby lets just turn down the lights, and close the door / Ooh I love that dress but you won’t need it anymore,” he sings.

Bruno spoke about the track in his new Rolling Stone cover story, which refers to it as a “Boyz II Men-ish anthem.” While making it, he said: “At a certain point, I needed to stop telling you we’re gonna get down, and just get down.”

“If I start my night with 24k Magic I can only hope to end it with Versace on the Floor,” wrote Mars on Twitter.

Take it off and have a listen below. Mars’ third studio album 24k Magic hits stores on Nov. 18.

Bruno Mars Talks ’24k Magic,’ Beyoncé, Prince & Much More

Bruno Mars is notorious for avoiding interviews, but the “24K Magic” star sat down with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe to talk about his forthcoming album and his hit-filled journey.

Apparently, Bruno didn’t just set out to make a new LP. “With this album, I wanted to make a movie,” he said. “A real movie. I told myself, ‘We’re gonna have a screenplay and we’re gonna go to that.’”

“24K Magic” is the first glimpse of that imaginary film and that’s how Bruno planned it. “I said, if I can tell myself I’m shooting a movie and I need an opening to let everybody know what time it is, what’s that gonna sound and look like?” he explained. “It was ’24K Magic.’ That was gonna be the opening to the movie.”

So, will we actually get to see the movie? “I wanted to do it but I feel like I blew it,” he said. “I feel like it’s too late. It was only to trick myself in the studio.”

Although a movie might not be hitting theaters, Mars’ next album is dropping Nov. 18 and features a song he co-wrote with Babyface. Hear more about the LP and Bruno’s career in the interview and Q&A highlights below.

Bruno Mars Returns with Flashy New Single “24K Magic”

It’s showtime (it’s showtime!)/ Guess who’s back again?!

If anyone knows how to get groovy, it’s Bruno Mars. The singer got to hang with Beyoncé and Coldplay on football’s biggest night back in February, performing “Uptown Funk” during the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show. But, Bruno’s a star in his own right; and in case fans needed a reminder of that, the 4x Grammy Award winner has returned with his brand new single “24K Magic.”

“24K Magic” is so funky, in fact, that Mars couldn’t help but to release a set of visuals for the track in addition to the single itself. Mars co-directed the video alongside Cameron Duddy, and as its title, there’s plenty of gold present.

“I’m a dangerous man with some money in my pockets,” Bruno sings, and he proves that and then some, as he and his crew stunt on everyone around them, arriving first on a private jet before cruising the Las Vegas strip in a convertible, crashing a private gambling affair, and being surrounded by gorgeous women at a party. From its nostalgic synthesizer-driven beat (whose breakdown at the 2:48 mark is just amazing) to Bruno truly sounding like he’s having a blast on the song, expect “24K Magic” to pick up right where “Uptown Funk” left off, as Mars’s next big radio single.

Get “so playa” with Bruno and company yourself by watching “24K Magic’s” music video below. The single itself is currently out on iTunes.

Bruno Mars Debuts “Rest of My Life” on ‘Jane the Virgin’

Bruno Mars fans were in for a big surprise on Monday night, as the superstar appeared on the Season 2 finale of the hit CW show ‘Jane the Virgin.’

Lead character Jane (played by Gina Rodriguez) was getting married to her leading man Michael (Brett Dier), when Mars appeared at their wedding and serenaded the happy couple with a heartfelt ballad called “Rest of My Life.” The song had been in Bruno’s vault for many years, but he was looking for the right place to use it, and being a fan of the show he felt it would be the perfect fit to debut it on the finale.

On the show, Jane’s father is a famous telenovela star with many A-list pals, which explains why Mars’ cameo — playing himself — made sense. A new classic wedding song in the making, Mars delivers deep emotion with simplistic, honest lyrics.

“As I stand here before my woman, I can’t fight back the tears in my eyes / Ohh how could I be so lucky? / I must have done something right, and I promise to love her for the rest of my life,” he sings.

Watch Bruno’s touching performance below.
