Destiny’s Child Reunite at Stellar Awards

Surprise! Destiny’s Child reunited once again at the 30th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards at Las Vegas’ Orleans Arena on Saturday night. Michelle Williams appeared on stage in white to perform the gospel number “Always Remember Jesus” while two women harmonized with their backs turned to the audience. They turned around to reveal themselves as Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland as the audience cheered.

“Everybody put your hands together. Y’all ready?” said Bey before performing their gospel collaboration “Say Yes” off Michelle’s album Journey to Freedom.

It marked the first time the trio has performed together since Beyoncé’s Super Bowl XLVII halftime show in February 2013.

Michelle also picked up her first Stellar Award for ‘Video of the Year’ for “Say Yes.”

“Thank you to each and every one of you that voted for #SayYes and a very special THANK YOU to @matthewacherry for directing this incredible video. And of course to my ladies to @beyonce and @kellyrowland for blessing the song,” she tweeted.

The-Dream Reveals Beyoncé Recorded a Fela-Inspired Album


Queen Bey has tried her hand at many sounds, and always attempted to stay on the cutting edge of music. Nothing is more evident of this than her most recent, self-titled album, however her prior LP, ‘4‘ was also a step into unique sonic inspirations for Beyoncé, and according to a recent admission by hit-maker and Grammy-winning artist The-Dream, the global megastar had previously played around with a sound modeled after Fela, the musical based on music and lyrics by the late Nigerian singer Fela Kuti.

Sharing the news while submitting some history on his various production and writing work for the acclaimed lyrics site, The-Dream revealed that before her ‘4’ album was completed they recorded a whole body of work with a Fela sound.

Watch: Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, and Gary Clark Jr. Pay Tribute to Stevie Wonder


The stars came out to pay tribute to Stevie Wonder at “Stevie Wonder: Songs in the Key of Life — An All-Star Grammy Salute.” The CBS special, which was taped at L.A.’s Nokia Theatre last week and aired Monday night, featured performances from Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, John Legend, Pharrell Williams, Babyface, Ariana Grande, Ne-Yo, Janelle Monáe, and many more, who covered selections from the icon’s legendary songbook.

Beyoncé kicked off the celebration with a performance of “Fingertips,” Wonder’s first No. 1 single in 1963. She then turned it up with “Master Blaster (Jammin’)” backed by Ed Sheeran, and lastly took it to “Higher Ground” with fellow Houston native Gary Clark Jr. for the rousing finale.

Beyoncé, John Legend, Pharrell Williams and More Pay Tribute to Stevie Wonder


Music’s biggest stars came out to honor the incomparable Stevie Wonder for the tribute special “Stevie Wonder: Songs in the Key of Life — An All-Star Grammy Salute” at L.A.’s Nokia Theatre on Tuesday night. Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, John Legend, Jennifer Hudson and many more hit the stage to salute the iconic singer with musical performances from his songbook.

Beyoncé kicked off the celebration with a performance of Wonder’s 1963 hit “Fingertips, Pt. 2″ before singing “Master Blaster (Jammin’)” with Ed Sheeran. Gary Clark Jr. helped them close out the medley with “Higher Ground.”

John Legend serenaded the crowd with “I Believe (When I Fall in Love It Will Be Forever),” Lady Gaga paid tribute to Stevie with “I Wish,” and Ariana Grande and Babyface dueted on “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours.”

Janelle Monáe, India.Arie, and Jill Scott, teamed up for a rousing rendition of “As,” and Pharrell Williams and Ryan Tedder jammed on “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing.”

Jennifer Hudson belted out “All Is Fair in Love,” and Ne-Yo joined Stevie’s daughter Aisha Wonder for “Isn’t She Lovely.”

Stevie himself closed out the show with a medley of hits including “Contusion,” “You Are the Sunshine of My Life,” “Ribbon in the Sky,” and “Superstition,” and was joined onstage by his famous friends for the finale of “Happy Birthday” and “Another Star.”

The concert special will air Monday, Feb. 16, at 9 p.m. EST on CBS. Check out some photos and video clips below!

Beyoncé Shares Behind the Scenes of Grammy Performance


Love it or hate it, Beyoncé had everyone talking about her performance at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night. Singing a commanding cover of the gospel hymn “Take My Hand, Precious Lord,” which was sung by Ledisi for the film Selma, Bey helped bring everyone to church prior to John Legend and Common’s powerful show closing performance.

Now, Bey is giving fans a look behind the scenes at the rehearsals, introducing the additional voices behind her performance and sharing her inspiration behind the cast of male singers.

“I wanted to find real men, that have lived, have struggled, cried, have a life and spirit about them. I felt like this is an opportunity to show the strength and vulnerability in black men,” shared Beyoncé.

Beyoncé & Jay Z Joint Album Confirmed By Producer Detail

Beyhive, rejoice. Jigga fans, turn up “Big Pimpin.”

Music’s biggest night brought confirmation that 2015 will bring forth what we all expected: a joint album from The Carters! While the duo took home two Grammy Awards on Sunday, fans can now celebrate the news that the collaborative project is indeed on its way.

Grammy-winning producer Detail – who is responsible for Jay and Bey’s Grammy-winning single “Drunk In Love” – took some time on the carpet last night to chat with the good people over at Billboard, and revealed that he is definitely involved in the formerly rumored album.

While he didn’t give a potential release date, the producer stated:  “When you think of Jay and Bey together, you think ‘album.’ You should already know.” When asked if we could expect the project this year, he followed up with: “In my imaginary mind, I will work to say it’s true.”

Beyoncé Performs “Take My Hand, Precious Lord” at Grammy Awards


Controversy aside, Beyoncé did an excellent job with her unexpected performance at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. Following an introduction from Gwyneth Paltrow and LL Cool J, Queen Bey capped off the three-and-a-half-hour show with the gospel hymn “Take My Hand, Precious Lord.”

Dressed in all white, Bey took it to church with her hair-raising cover, which was previously performed by Ledisi for the Selma soundtrack.

John Legend and Common followed with a performance of their Oscar-nominated song “Glory.”

While she didn’t win Album of the Year, Bey went home with three other awards, bringing her career total to a whopping 20 Grammys.
