Stream Bell Biv DeVoe’s Comeback Album ‘Three Stripes’

Get up! It’s a throwback party today with the release of Bell Biv DeVoe‘s brand new comeback album Three Stripes.

The R&B legends have aptly released their first album in nearly 16 years right on the heels of the epically executed New Edition BET biopic, The New Edition Story. The 10-track album has been preceded by the Eric Sermon-produced single “Run” and recently released follow-up “I’m Betta” produced by Kay Gee of Naughty by Nature. The LP also includes some exciting collaborations with SWV (“Finally”) and Boyz II Men (“One More Try”).

Talking about the album, Ricky Bell told Music Choice: “Us as performers, as writers, as producers we’re a lot better now [compared to their debut album]. Song for song, if you match “Don’t Go” up with “Do Me” or whatever, on a performance side, we’re a whole lot better. We are mindful of where our fans are and where we are, it’s age appropriate. The grooves are mad sexy, the melodies are catchy, subject matters are just right up your alley of whatever is going on today and with relationships. Besides ‘Poison’ it’s our best work.”

A bold statement, but one that is also backed up by their inspiration and desire to create a work that they were equally proud of, compared to their massive debut with the Poison album.

New Music: Bell Biv DeVoe feat. SWV – Finally

The ultimate ’90s collabo has finally happened! Bell Biv DeVoe have released their latest single “Finally” and it features fellow ’90s R&B icons, SWV.  Opposite of their Biggie inspired single, “Run,” “Finally” is a sweet ballad about finding love that lasts. Reminiscent of the ’90s with a 2017 twist, old and new school fans will dig this feel good groove.

Ricky and Coco pledge devotion to each other as he sings to her, “You give me everything so I’mma give you more … when you Finally get it right …that’s how it feels when I’m with you.” She responds with her signature lilt, “You are so secure and I mean that / Some reciprocation is all that I’ve been missing / I’ve found myself in you … I’d be proud to say  ‘I do…”

This is definitely a dope marketing move by both groups as they are currently on tour together. The New Edition three-day biopic is set to start airing on BET January 24 and BBD’s first album in 15 years Three Stripes, is due out on January 27.  SWV was profiled on the season premiere of TV One’s “Unsung” this past Wednesday (Jan. 4).
