Ashanti opens her arms and shares the brand new music video for her latest single “Never Should Have.” The Sanji-directed visual showcases the songstress belting out the emotional ballad as she walks down a tree lined road and along the beach. Various stories of people and couples dealing with heartbreak, and the struggle of love set a somber tone.
“Never Should Have” is the third single off Ashanti’s upcoming album, BraveHeart, her first studio album in five years, which is set to be released June 11.

Ashanti released her brand new single “Never Should Have” last week, and revealed that her oft-delayed fifth album was set for release this June. Today, the R&B songstress has announced the new official release for Braveheart.
Ashanti has been eluding about her new single since early this year, and today the R&B vixen premieres the tune, and releases it to digital retailers at the same time. The heavy, heartbreak based ballad, “Never Should Have,” produced by Mansur, is the fourth release from her upcoming fifth studio album Braveheart, which is currently scheduled to be released on June 4, via her Written Entertainment/E1 Music.
The new single is scheduled to impact U.S. radio in early April, with a music video, directed by Sanji, on the way.

Ashanti had her fans going crazy when she gave them an exclusive preview of some new songs off her upcoming album Braveheart. The delayed album, Ashanti’s first on her own label Written Entertainment, is currently expected to be released this summer, with a new single on the way. During a uStream session from this past Sunday, the R&B songstress played snippets of 5 new songs from the project, including the upcoming single “Never Should Have” and “She Can’t”.
During a previous interview on Vh1′s ‘Big Morning Buzz,’ the ‘Army Wives’ star revealed she has a big rap feature on the upcoming single, and she is shooting the music video very soon.

Earlier this week, Ashanti paid a visit to Vh1′s ‘Big Morning Buzz’ for a new promotional interview. The singer/actress spoke with host Carrie Keagan about her role on the upcoming TV show “Army Wives,” the status of her forthcoming album Braveheart and the R&B chanteuse teased a big collaboration is in the works.
“What I will say is two days ago I had a conversation with one of the hottest rappers in music right now and he’s getting on my record. I’m super excited about it and hopefully we’ll be shooting the video in LA in about four weeks,” says Ashanti.
Not divulging anything else, she confirmed that her album is due this summer and that her focus right now is really on the Lifetime series “Army Wives.” Peep the full interview below:
