Alessia Cara Covers SZA’s “Drew Barrymore”

SZA continues to be the year’s favorite when it comes to covers, and rightfully so. The latest to pay tribute to the TDE songstress is singer-songwriter Alessia Cara, who dropped an acoustic cover of “Drew Barrymore.”

Fresh off her double wins at the VMAs, the songstress puts her soulful spin on the Ctrl single, over a JustAcoustic instrumental.

“had this laying around for a bit so I decided to post it,” said Cara. “this album is magic.”

SZA was definitely a fan of the cover, tweeting: “Welp I’m screaming.”

As she preps for her 2017 “MAD LOVE World Tour,” JoJo is getting fans ready with some spot dates in the U.S. On Tuesday night, the songstress had a impromptu jam session with fellow singer-songwriter Alessia Cara, and guitar player JinJoo, in a bathroom!

The ladies performed an acoustic rendition of their recent MAD LOVE. collaboration, “I Can Only,” and they kilt it.

Mariah Carey, JoJo, & Boyz II Men Perform Holiday Classics for Disney

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. On Thanksgiving night, Mariah Carey, JoJo, Boyz II Men, and Alessia Cara brought the holiday cheer to “Disney’s Magical Holiday Celebration.”

JoJo performed a powerful rendition of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” from Disney World’s Animal Kingdom. In a shimmering gold dress, the Mad Love. songstress helped all troubles go away thanks to her stunning performance.

Later on, she joined Boyz II Men for a smooth duet of the R&B legends’ classic “Let It Snow.”

Alessia Cara also took part in the celebration, performing her Lin-Manuel Miranda-penned “How Far I’ll Go” for the first time on television. Live from Disney World, Cara brought the empowering song from Disney’s Moana to life.

The “Magical Holiday Celebration” capped off with the queen of Christmas herself, Mariah Carey. Under dazzling fireworks at Disneyland’s “It’s a Small World,” MC performed her best-selling holiday smash “All I Want for Christmas Is You” while surrounded by dancing children.

Video: Alessia Cara – Scars To Your Beautiful

Alessia Cara empowers with the video to her new single, “Scars to Your Beautiful.”

In honor of her 20th birthday, the “Here” songstress has revealed her moving visuals about self-love. “You should know you’re beautiful just the way you are,” she sings. “You don’t have to change a thing, the world can change its heart.”

Several people share personal struggles with self-love in the video, including JoJo, who makes a cameo. “A lot of people aren’t afraid to give their opinions,” she says. “Whether they’re hurtful or not.”

Teaming up with the empowerment campaign I Am That Girl, Cara explains why the track is important to her. “The world sometimes tells us that we shouldn’t be happy with ourselves if we don’t fit certain standards of beauty,” she told Cosmopolitan. “‘Scars To Your Beautiful’ is my reminder that beauty isn’t only one look, shape, size, or color. Beauty comes in all forms—tangible and intangible—inside and out. We need to recognize that.”

She will perform the potent single on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on July 19. After that, on Sept. 29, she will hit the road for a 21-city run on the “Know-It-All Tour Part 2.”

Watch: Alessia Cara Covers Drake’s “Hotline Bling”

Buzzing Canadian singer Alessia Cara is tearing up the charts with her breakout hit “Here.” While on a promo trip to Australia the 19-year-old stopped by Channel [V] and gave them a special performance cover of Drake’s buzzing single “Hotline Bling.”

She transforms the song into a soulful coffee shop-ready jam. Backed by strummed acoustic guitar and gentle drums, Cara offers a soulful, jazzy take on Drake’s emotive lyrics. She adds texture to the chorus, her powerful voice supplying trills and fluttering details that make the version very much her own.

Cara ran into Drake at the Squamish Festival earlier this month. “got the 6 God’s blessing. all is well. I can’t move my limbs,” she said.
