Listen: 112 Release New Single “Strawberry,” Announce Comeback Album!

112 Strawberry

Platinum selling, Grammy Award winning R&B group 112 have returned with the surprise release of their brand new single “Strawberry.”

It has been 12 years since the quartet–made up of Marvin “Slim” Scandrick, Quinnes “Q” Parker, Daron Jones & Michael Keith–released their last album, 2005’s Pleasure & Pain. The smooth new single is the first taste of the group’s upcoming, comeback album, Q Mike Slim Daron, due this fall on Entertainment One.

Fresh off their performance on the Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour of 2016, 112 proves that they still have the chemistry to create new and exciting music. “Strawberry” sees the group moving deftly through modern day production and sheen while still retaining the smooth and harmonious sound that caught Puffy’s ear back in the ’90s. Hooky and melodic, the track proves that 112 have aged like a fine “cherry wine,” and have added another sensual ingredient to their “Peaches and Cream” fame and then some.

112 is gearing up for a world tour kicking off in the U.K. in September and making their way back to the States for the multi-city U.S. leg in October.

Take a listen to “Strawberry” below!

PressPlay: 25 R&B Videos To Kick Off Summer

R&B Videos Summer

Summer is here and in case you were wondering, I’m just as excited as a kid on Christmas morning. Though each season holds its own weight in my book, there’s just something about summer that can make anyone feel their best and want to shine every chance they can. While everyone has their different reasons for feeling so good when summer creeps around, we here at ThisIsRnB will always give some of the credit to our playlist of summer R&B songs for that overwhelming emotion that the season brings out of us.

Although today’s R&B artists can still deliver a solid feel good sound for summer (i.e. DJ Khaled’s Rihanna and Bryson Tiller-assisted “Wild Thoughts“), there’s no denying that the majority of the top summer vibes came from the ’90s and early 2000s. Likewise, those same artists were all about making videos to match that same vibe and as a result, turned each summer into the biggest party that we would experience all year-long. So as an ode to those tracks and inspiration to make the next few months the best of your year, we decided to set you up with a dope list of R&B videos that are sure to set your summer off proper.

Excited about letting the top back, pulling out the shawt shawts, and getting tipsy on the rooftop? Jump into these 25 nostalgic summer videos to hype you up for your first day out (no Gucci) this season.

Puff Daddy Brings Out Usher, Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans, 112, Total, Carl Thomas & More at Bad Boy Family Reunion

Brooklyn was all BAD BOY this weekend.

Puff Daddy & The Family kicked off the official “Bad Boy Reunion Tour” with two sold-out shows at Barclays Center on Friday and Saturday night, and it was an all-out celebration! Held in honor of the late, great Notorious B.I.G.’s 44th birthday, Puff invited nearly every act he worked with over the years to create one of the biggest hip hop concerts in history. But, as we all know the successful entertainer and entrepreneur got his start in R&B and created much of his success by blending the two genres together.

During the two night extravaganza, Puff accomplished the near-impossible task of condensing a significant chunk of hip-hop and R&B history into four hours, giving fans flashes of nostalgia as the likes of Total, 112, Carl Thomas, Faith Evans, The LOX, Lil’ Kim, and Ma$e performed their classics from the Bad Boy catalogue to a sold-out crowd. However, according to the Bad Boy boss the label wouldn’t exist without the prior success he had with Mary J. Blige at Uptown Records, who while on stage thanked him for taking a tomboy living in the projects and transforming her into the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul. Mary tore up the Barclay’s stage with her timeless hits “Real Love,” “Be Happy,” “You Don’t Have to Worry,” and her remake of “I’m Goin’ Down.”

112 serenaded the crowd with a string of hits including, “Cupid,” “It’s Over Now,” “Dance With Me,” and “Peaches & Cream.” Then it was Kima, Keisha, and Pam’s turn, sounding pitch-perfect when they delivered “Can’t You See,” “Trippin’” and “Kissin’ You.”

Mario Winans dropped in with “I Don’t Wanna Know,” Cassie surprised with her smash single “Me & U,” and Ty Dolla $ign joined Diddy for “You Could Be My Lover.” Usher also surprised with “U Don’t Have to Call” and “I Need a Girl, Pt. 1 and 2.”

The closer for the evening was “I’ll Be Missing You,” a touching performance with Faith Evans belting her chorus alongside a gospel choir that all happened right as Biggie’s would-be 44th birthday rang in. Confetti and balloons fell from the sky. “Happy birthday, playboy,” Puff said.
