Kelly Rowland Dishes on New BET Show ‘Chasing Destiny’ at 2015 Essence Festival


As everyone is still trying to catch up on rest from the exciting weekend in New Orleans at the 2015 Essence Festival, everything that you missed is still cranking out. From unexpected moments to juicy interviews, this year’s festival brought out all of your favorite stars to plug their new projects and ventures.

One artist in particular who worked the media was 34-year-old Kelly Rowland. Looking exceptional throughout the weekend, the “Motivation” singer sat down with ESSENCE Live Festival Edition host Adrienne Bailon to reveal the details on her new BET show, ‘Chasing Destiny.’

Confirming that the show is indeed a search for the ultimate girl group, the former girl group member went on to reveal that filming is already in the works with Frank Gatson – who was an instrumental creative force for Destiny’s Child as well as each of the member’s solo careers.

In addition to the upcoming show, Rowland has also been confirmed to be a guest star on season 2 of the FOX hit series, ‘Empire.’

Watch: Keyshia Cole Premieres New Reality Show “All In” (Episode 1)


Keyshia Cole has returned to reality TV with her brand new BET docu series “All In.”

The network premiered the first episode of the show on Tuesday night, which catches up with the R&B diva as she prepares to release her last album Point of No Return, and struggles to get her family life back together after a failed marriage and strained relationship with her mother & sisters.

Keyshia is already back to work on her seventh studio album, currently an independent artist, with plans to release it later this year.

Sneak Peek: YaYa Dacosta as Whitney Houston in the Studio for Lifetime’s ‘Whitney’


The Lifetime cable channel continues to take risks with their latest biopics depicting some of music’s biggest lost stars. Following the utter hatred over their made-for-tv movie Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B, the network is moving forward, full steam ahead, with their Angela Bassett-directed movie about Whitney Houston.

To build up some buzz for the film, Lifetime has given Entertainment Tonight an exclusive clip featuring actress Yaya Dacosta as Whitney in the studio as she records her 1988 hit, “I’m Your Baby Tonight,” while Babyface (played by Wesley Jonathan) oversees the recording.

As previously reported, singer Deborah Cox supplied the sung vocals for the entire film, which are heard in this clip.

Whitney‘ will air on January 17 at 8 PM on Lifetime.

Watch: K. Michelle – “Love ‘Em All” Video + Debut Episode of New Reality Show ‘My Life’


It was all about K. Michelle on VH1 Monday night. The R&B vixen premiered her anticipated new reality show ‘My Life,’ which follows the singer through personal relationships, her career this year, and working on her forthcoming sophomore album.

Following the show, K also premiered the official music video for her single “Love ‘Em All,” which is the first release off the new album. Yesterday, she premiered the second single “Maybe I Should Call,” which is already getting much praise from fans.

In the new visual, the Memphis songstress looks to put all the gossip and comments about her love life to rest, as she professes that none of it matters, she is out here having fun, and breaking numerous suitors hearts is just her reality. Showing off her dancer side K even performs a couple choreographed sequences.

John Legend Makes ‘Sloppy John’ on MTV’s ‘Snack Off’


John Legend‘s wife, Chrissy Teigen, is a judge on MTV’s series ‘Snack-Off,’ where she tastes, debates, and determines the fate of amateur chefs. On Thursday night’s celebrity episode, the R&B crooner made his own appearance in the ‘kitchen,’ as he was challenged with the task of making a sandwich without bread.

Chrissy watched intently as her hubby competed against the likes of Melanie Iglesias and Big Black for a $1,000 prize for charity. John put up a good fight and wowed the judges with his made-from-scratch “Sloppy John.”

Moving on to the final round, John went head-to-head with Big Black, but ultimately his Butterfinger-battered fried chicken fell short.

Taking on the “American Ninja Warrior” Parking Lot Challenge on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Usher not only proved that he had the brawn, to complete the challenge, but the brains to invent a new way to complete one of the obstacles. Serving as great exercise for what’s to come during his UR Experience tour this fall, it was pure entertainment watching him tackle the obstacles on the course.
