After a short break, the Red Light Special returns this week with a brand new episode featuring special guest August Alsina. During their candid chat, Rob and Kristin talk to the young star about his upcoming sophomore album This Thing Called Life, why it’s ok for men to cry, his cousin telling him that he was the reason his brother was murdered, and he opens up about the controversy surrounding him feeling up a female fan on stage.

“With that situation, it made me cringe, because I had no idea that that was even going on,” explains August. “When I realized — as you can see in the video, I eject my arm back. And she had on this sequence dress so I didn’t really know what I was feeling. I was too busy singing to actually notice that. I actually called her. I had to have a conversation with her just out of respect. As a man, I wanted her to know that I wouldn’t disrespect you like that.”

They also speak about his brand new single “Song Cry,” which is both emotional about his own life and socially conscious.

For those who are unfamiliar, Tiller hails from Louisville, Kentucky and made the music world take notice when he dropped his breakout single “Don’t.” The track caught the attention of fans everywhere, as well as legendary producer Timbaland. Drake also reached out to Young Tiller and tried to sign him to OVO, but he eventually signed a joint venture with RCA Records.

During their chat, Young Tiller opens up about his recording process, almost signing with Drake, being influenced by Omarion and Soulja Boy; plus his fascination with video games.

Following a week off, the ‘Red Light Special’ comes back strong this week with special guests The Force MDs. The legendary group hails from Staten Island, NY and was very instrumental in bringing hip-hop and R&B together in the 1980s.

During the show, Rob and Kristin talk to group members Stevie D and Khalil Lundy about the group’s legacy. They discuss getting their start singing on the Staten Island Ferry, being discovered by Mr. Magic and battling at the legendary Harlem World night club. The Force talk about being signed to Tommy Boy, their competition with New Edition, recording “Daytona 500” with Ghostface Killah and how the rise of crack/cocaine affected the group.

Then of course they tell us the stories behind their biggest hits “Love Is A House” and “Tender Love.” There are a ton of gems here.
