Music icon and Motown legend Smokey Robinson is arguably the greatest songwriter of all time. After a career that spawns 6 decades (Yes 6!), the singer-songwriter will finally be seeing his story told on the silver screen.
During a recent visit to “Extra,” where he was promoting his first-ever solo Christmas album, Christmas Everyday, Robinson spilled the beans on the upcoming film. Speaking with Tanika Ray, Smokey revealed, “the guys that did ‘Ray’ are doing a script on my life to make a movie.”
When Tanika pressed him on which actor he would like to see portray him in the movie, she dropped names like Jesse Williams and Michael Ealy, both of whom he agreed were possibilities.
Jamie Foxx won the Academy Award for his role in Ray, so the stakes are high to do justice with Smokey’s story. More details will hopefully be emerging in the new year.
Smokey Robinson’s new holiday album, Christmas Everyday, is available now on Amazon.
