Following his impassioned jazzy testimony on “Only One,” Brooklyn based singer-songwriter Johnny Burgos adequately returns with the emotional new song “Feelings.”
Evolved from his previous releases, Burgos goes deeper on the hard-hitting, mid-tempo ballad, introducing new listeners and past fans to what lies beneath his public persona.
With a gifted ability to wear his emotions in open view, Burgos shares an intimate struggle with depression. Speaking about the importance of addressing mental health issues and the effects of emotional baggage before it infiltrates your life and the lives of those you love, he explains: “I wrote ‘Feelings’ as I was coming to terms with the realization of my state of depression which I struggled with because of the vulnerability it required and the lack of experience I’ve had with vulnerability growing up in a “machismo” culture,” says Johnny. “Although it’s often viewed as an internal struggle, I realized the external effects that my depression had on my life and the people in it, and that’s what led to my breaking point. I was at the point that I had to make the choice on whether I wanted to repeat these negative patterns or work hard to change them for the better.”
“Feelings” is available on all digital and streaming music platforms now. To accompany the release with an emotional visual component, Johnny Burgos has debuted the cinematic music video, directed by Max Skaff. On screen, the crooner is seen belting out the heartfelt lyrics from a dim bedroom, while a young couple’s rollercoaster relationship plays out in stages.
Burgos recently caught the attention of Samsung, which included his music as part of their brand ambassador program that selects artists on the rise whom they believe in, to support the launch of their Samsung Gear 360 campaign.
