SZA Teases New Music from ‘CTRL’ in Mini Documentary

By

CTRL season is upon us.

Though SZA‘s highly anticipated debut album release date was pushed back from February 3, she’s given fans a small taste of what’s to come in a 3-minute documentary titled “WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN: road to Ctrl.”

The mini-doc serves as a video diary catching us up on the TDE star’s life as she prepares to release her long-awaited LP. Featuring clips of 3 different songs, the visual starts with an ode to being 20-something. We see SZA doing things all 20-somethings do: dancing like no one’s watching, lounging in big comfy clothes around her house and brushing her teeth. Oh, and of course she’s hanging out with Kehlani and performing on the main stage at Coachella with Kendrick Lamar too… So maybe that’s not something ALL 20-somethings do.

Along with a look at her daily routine, we also get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of her recording in the studio and getting all dolled up for a yet-to-be released music video. All the while, the clip shows the 26-year-old singer growing and dealing with raw emotions as they hit her, whether it’s happiness, sadness, excitement, or disappointment. We also hear snippets of a love song to someone she always looks forward to seeing, and her love/hate relationship with make-up, specifically Sephora.

There’s no word on when CTRL will officially drop yet, but according to TDE CEO, Top Dawg, expect it to be very soon.

Check out the documentary below.
