Tory Lanez is just reveling in the release of his long-time-coming debut album, I Told You, which hit stores last Friday (Aug. 19).

With his massive “I Told You Tour” already underway, and scheduled to continue through December, Tory has a lot of roads to travel and fans to touch. While in New York this week, the rapper/singer paid a visit to “The Breakfast Club” for a lengthy interview surrounding the album’s release.

Charlamagne kicked off the interview with a blunt comment about Tory not having his own sound on the album, and borrowing from artists like Trey Songz and Fetty Wap. The Toronto native is still so happy to have an official album out he seemed to just brush off the comments and find pleasure in the fact that people are even sharing opinions about the music.

In addition to comparisons with other famed artists, Lanez spoke about his youth and upbringing, past recording deals, help from Justin Bieber, his so-called beef with Drake, the timeline concept of the album, the reason for so many skits, the positive feedback over his “Controlla” remix, the culture in Toronto, and much more.
