The promo run is absolutely on!

Only hours after releasing his well-anticipated new single, “Lake By The Ocean,” Maxwell dropped by ‘The Breakfast Club’ to dish on his now ended hiatus from music.

With 20 years since the release of his debut album, Urban Hang Suite, the singer-songwriter discussed how unbelievable it is for him to still be here. Citing D’Angelo as the door opener to getting Urban Hang Suite off of the shelves, the veteran singer had nothing but positive things to say about everyone that was brought up in his interview.

From choosing to minimally collaborating to his collaborations with Nas and wanting to work with Jay Z, Maxwell’s interview was a breath of fresh air in an industry filled with negativity. He also discussed why he’s so private with his life, and stated that he wants the work to be how people remember him.

After 20 years and only four albums (five if you count the MTV Unplugged album), it’s incredible to believe that the demand and respect for new Maxwell music is still prevalent.
