01. MAXWELL – blackSUMMERS’night
It’s kind of hard to believe that it’s been over 6 years since Maxwell released his last album, 2009’s BLACKsummers’night. Especially because he has continuously teased fans about its forthcoming sequel every year since, always promising it is on the way, but never releasing any music.
The soulful singer-songwriter has remained elusive from most press, occasionally performing and sharing fun times on social media, but during an interview with Rolling Stone magazine in May 2014 he disclosed that he had been working on his fifth album for “the past three years” and has been recording in Miami. On December 18, 2014, Maxwell announced on Twitter that the second installment of his trilogy blackSUMMERS’night would be arriving sometime in winter 2015, but no other formal announcements have been made.
Now, we can’t guarantee 2016 will be the year he finally releases the much-anticipated project, but we are continuing to keep hope alive! We’re here waiting, whenever he is ready…
