What a year it has been for The Weeknd. After landing the No. 1 and No. 2 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 last week, the Canadian star has now topped himself.

This week, his single “The Hills” has risen to No. 1 on the Hot 100, dethroning his other hit single “Can’t Feel My Face.”

The latter falls to No. 3 this week after three consecutive weeks at No. 1, while Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?” climbs into second place.

According to Billboard, this feat makes The Weeknd the first male artist to score back-to-back No. 1 singles since T.I. in 2008. Taylor Swift did it last year.

The XO boss was understandably excited. “THE HILLS HIT NUMBER 1 !!!!” he tweeted, adding, “WE STOLE THE NUMBER ONE SPOT FROM OURSELVES! XO DID THAT.”

Not only does he have the No. 1 single in the country, his album Beauty Behind the Madness remains No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for a third consecutive week. The album moved another 99,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Sept. 17.

BBTM is the first album to spend three weeks at No. 1 since Taylor Swift’s 1989, which held the top spot for 11 non-consecutive weeks late last year.
