Throwback Thursday: En Vogue – My Lovin (You’re Never Gonna Get It)

By

En Vogue is a female R&B group that was most popular in the early ’90s. Assembled in Oakland, California in 1989, En Vogue launched with original members Cindy Herron, Maxine Jones, Dawn Robinson and Terry Ellis. The inspiration for the group was 1950s/1960s female groups.

“My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It)” was the first single from En Vogue’s second album, Funky Divas. It features Maxine Jones and Dawn Robinson on lead vocals, and the production contains a sample of the guitar riff from the James Brown song “The Payback”.  As a single “My Lovin'” reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. VH1 previously ranked the song No. 43 on its list of the “100 Greatest Songs of the ’90s”.
