Time to add a new name to our list of must-know emerging artists – Nicky Davey. Rising out of the L.A. production scene, the duo is made up of singer/songwriter Nick Green and singer/musician Davey Rosser. They describe their approach to songwriting as always putting a strong emphasis on beauty, combined with infectious hooks. Constantly striving to reinvent the modern pop song, they were given the opportunity to work with Odd Future group, The Internet. In 2013, under the production of The Neptunes’ Chad Hugo, they helped pen their underground hit “Dontcha.”
Earlier this year, Nick was in the studio with the electronic Londoners, SNAKEHIPS, and they wrote “Gone.” The track features Syd tha Kyd, and has undeniably been a favorite of their devoted fan base. This led to Nick, the duo’s lead singer, being called upon to vocal produce and co-write The Internet’s acclaimed new album Ego Death.
Making their official introduction this week, the two studio rats have released their debut self-titled EP. The 5-track project is a buzz-worthy mix of infectious pop pleasing anthems, and emotional ballads. Despite their unpredictable journey, Nicky Davey were able to craft a sound that is astoundingly fresh and authentic.
