New Music: Leon Bridges – River

By

Leon Bridges River

Budding soul singer-songwriter Leon Bridges will be releasing his anticipated Columbia Records debut album Coming Home on June 23. The Texas bred crooner is giving fans and new listeners one more taste of the LP, prior to release, with the stunning song “River,” which is the last track on the album.

Similar to the other singles that Bridges has released, “River” is highly reminiscent of 1960s style gospel inspired R&B, evoking legends like Sam Cooke in particular.

Over a gentle acoustic guitar and slow tambourine clap, Bridges voice fills the sparse track singing out; “Oh I wanna come here and give you every part of me / But there’s blood on my hands, and my lips are unclean.”
