Tink Winter's Diary 2 Cover

#8. Tink – ‘Winter’s Diary 2’

Before all the hype and co-signing from Timbaland, Chicago newcomer Tink found plenty of critical acclaim with her early 2014 mixtape ‘Winter’s Diary 2.’  While the 19-year-old emerged more in the Chi-Town rap scene, her vocal talents and songwriting run equally as strong and promising on the project.  With plenty of ’90s vibes, Tink delivers a casual charm and emotional honesty that is clearly beyond her years.  “All you gotta do is love me for me babe,” she sings on the smooth “Treat Me Like Somebody.”

The songs cover complicated, intimate, and frequently disappointing romantic relationships. On the overtly sexual “When It Rains” she sings about riding out thunderstorms in bed: “On the window pane write my name up on it / The weather man say it’s gonna be rain till the morning / So shower me with love, baby make it flood.” With Timbo producing her forthcoming album we can only she great things on the horizon for the budding artist. – J.W.
