Beyoncé and Jay Z teamed up with the USO for a special way to surprise U.S. troops on New Year’s Eve.  After welcoming in 2015 during a big party troops stationed at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan were surprised when a video of Beyoncé popped up on the screen wishing them a Happy New Year and revealing that they were about to see a special screening of the “On The Run” concert special, which previously aired on HBO.

“Hello everyone. I just want to say a big thank you to all of our troops for doing everything you do to keep our country safe,” Bey says in the clip. “We all sleep better at night knowing that you guys are protecting us and we are filled with gratitude. So we wanted to do something special for you guys and we teamed up with our friends, the USO, to do a private screening, just for you guys, of the On the Run tour.”

“Watching the ‘ON THE RUN’ concert made me forget I was in Afghanistan for the holidays…. thank you,” said SSGT Ferguson.

The special “On The Run” screening is just one example of how the USO is working to create, share and thank troops for their service in 2015. Last year, the USO created nearly 11 million special moments for our nation’s military community and is setting out to deliver another 11 million moments worldwide this year.
