List: The Best of October – Top 12 Records

Teyana Taylor feat. Chris Brown – Do Not Disturb

It’s been an extremely long time coming, but Teyana Taylor is finally ready to release her debut album for fans to hear. Indeed it’s been nearing a decade since the young songstress stepped onto the scene, but her seasoned and confusing journey hasn’t stopped her from putting her best foot forward when it comes to the delivery of her music. Following the release of her well-received single “Maybe,” the Chris Brown featured “Do No Disturb” has the duo satisfying more than just our musical needs…if you know what we mean (insert creep face here).

Rochelle Jordan feat. IAmSu! – Playa 4 Life

Rochelle Jordan has found real fans in us. Calling on Bay Area rapper IAmSu! for “Playa 4 Life,” the first single off her debut album 1 0 2 1.  Singing of a breakup that has her reconsidering loving again, the Toronto songstress does more than justice to the mid-tempo beat. Perfect for the change of weather and scenery, this talented lady lands on our list as one of the best singles of this month.

BJ The Chicago Kid – Good Karma

There’s something about BJ The Chicago Kid and his vocals that gets us so excited about music and we’re not here to complain about it. Making this his second round on our “Best of” list, BJ’s “Good Karma” is definitely supplying nothing short of that. While the Motown signee has yet to release a date of his debut album, we’re patiently awaiting its arrival. And, with singles like “Good Karma,” we get more and more confident that it’ll be nothing but pleasant sounds to our ears.

Elijah Blake – Black Whiskey

Round 2 for Elijah Blake on our list this month. Although we spoke so highly of “Strange Fruit” at the top of this list, there was no way we would be able to omit Elijah’s surprise release “Black Whiskey”. Set over a retro styled track, the talented vocalist sings of a love gone wrong as he reminisces of the good times they once shared. Although not found on his Drift EP, this single is making us pray over a quick release of his debut album Songs About Melody.

Awesome! Becoming a dad I have little time to browse for new music. These monthly packs help a great deal. Keep it up!
