As much as you may hate to admit it, many of the songs that you hated at first grew on you. Whether it was the constant play of each on the radio or the countless number of award shows that showcased the same song being performed, you were either “Happy” all the time, “Drunk In Love,” or crying out the lyrics to “All Of Me” to your significant other.

While the past year has been exceptional for many artists, one can’t deny that Beyoncé, John Legend and Pharrell Williams, have had some of the most standout moments. John Legend, whose album was originally slow to rise on the charts – has had a full turn around and has been seen all across the boards for the award nominations. Adding the 2014 American Music Awards to his resumé, the soulful crooner should be secure in knowing that his Love In the Future album is finally getting the attention it deserves.

Coming in with five nominations, the aforementioned is up against Pharrell Williams – who is also nominated five times – and Beyoncé, who comes in with three. While Bey may only have three nominations this year, she is up against the fellas for one of the most important: “Artist of The Year”.

Also nominated with Skateboard P and John Legend in the “Favorite Male Artist – Soul/R&B” category is Chris Brown, whose recent album X has received very positive nods from the industry and fans. Other nominees include Sam Smith, Drake, Mary J. Blige, Jhené Aiko, and more.

The 2014 American Music Awards will broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on November 23 on ABC.
