Burgeoning teen R&B artist Anthony Lewis returns today with the premiere of his socially conscious new single “Looks Like Me.”
With the help of multi Grammy Award winning writer/producers Warryn Campbell and La’Shawn Daniels, the 17-year-old singer uses his gift of voice to raise awareness to a social issue that is near and dear to his heart – the murder and brutality of young African American youth by the hands of those who are expected to protect and serve.
Having experienced racial profiling first hand and knowing a peer in L.A. who was shot and killed by a police officer, Anthony’s hope is to inspire Love and Unity. According to Lewis, “Looks Like Me” was created to be an answer not one of blame or anger. A portion of the proceeds from the single will be donated to charities assisting families with funeral services and building programs for citizen and police relations.
Earlier this year Lewis’ released his buzz single, “Candy Rain” (a cover of the classic hit by Soul For Real), which peaked at No. 11 on the Urban Mainstream Chart. The singer is currently in the studio working on his debut album with Da Internz, The Underdogs, LaShawn Daniels and Warryn Campbell. The album is due out in 2015.
