“My mind’s telling me noooooooo but my body, my body’s telling me yessssssss”
If for some reason you don’t already know, R. Kelly is a multiple Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, and record producer. A native of Chicago, Illinois, he is often referred to as the King of R&B. “Bump n’ Grind” was the second single released from his first solo album 12 Play in 1994. The track became a number one single on the Billboard Hot 100, and it also spent 12 weeks at number one on the Hot R&B Songs chart. As the singer’s third No. 1 R&B hit it became the longest-running number-one R&B single at that time.
Kellz released three versions of “Bump n’ Grind.” the original album version and two remixes. The original LP version was made available for airplay on urban and Top 40 pop radio stations alike at first, but eventually the Old School remix was issued shortly and gained massive airplay on urban, adult R&B/Soul and rhythmic radio stations. Kelly also released the “Bump N Grind (How I Feel It Extended Mix)”. Enjoy the classic video above.
If you are as disappointed as I that Kellz didn’t include the dramatic and amazing vocal run intro that we love him so much for in the video, I’ve included that version below:
