Throwback Tuesday: Brandy – ‘Baby’

Brandy is a singer, songwriter, and actress, best known for her distinctive sound, characterized by her peculiar timbre, voice-layering, intricate riffs, and beat-driven R&B.

“Baby” was the second single lifted off her 1994 self-titled debut album. It was written by Rahsaan Patterson, Kipper Jones and Keith Crouch, who produced by the track.  The single spent four weeks on top of the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. A music video was accompanied and directed by Hype Williams.

The music video was shot in the middle of Times Square in New York City. The video was choreographed by Fatima Robinson and features a young Laurieann Gibson. Brandy’s music always possessed a certain flavor and soulfulness about it, especially in her early ’90s music. Enjoy the video above.
