Throwback Thursday: Groove Theory- “Tell Me”

“I’ve been doing my own thing; love has always had a way of having bad timing.”

Groove Theory was a R&B duo composed of Amel Larrieux and Bryce Wilson. The group is best known for their 1995 hit, “Tell Me” off of their self-titled debut album Groove Theory.

The single reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and number three on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. Although the group broke up in 1999, as Larrieux chose to pursue a solo career, it was announced in 2010 that Larrieux and Wilson had reunited, and would be releasing a second official album. Last year, Amel released her fifth solo album, Ice Cream Every Day.

Many critics described Groove Theory’s “Tell Me” as well crafted and mature. Larrieux’s voice is a unique soprano over the track with hints of soul. Enjoy the video above!
